Yesterday we had the great pleasure of sharing a sighting inside the Columbia Heights Target. A few folks messaged me and we’ve learned that the chicken’s name is ‘Pollo’, (not Leslie.) A bit literal but happy to know it. Another reader sends the photo above from Taco Bell and admits being a bit weirded out but I’m definitely gonna add bonus points for this sighting because the chicken, I mean Pollo seems to be wearing a custom made fleece! Also bonus points for the leash.

Update! Now hearing the chicken’s name might actually be “Nugget.” Stay tuned.

Thanks to Libby for sending from U Street:

“We had a beautiful hawk in the backyard yesterday that had just caught a mouse. A mix of gross and fascinating.”

Thanks to Kristen for sending: “What the hell is this!? Seen in Logan circle park this afternoon.”

Paging the local entomologists, again. I’m guessing the Polyphemus moth caterpillar but please correct me if I’m wrong, which is a significant possibility as my expertise is actually in ichthyology.

Thanks to Rozi for sending this beautiful action shot from Columbia Heights:

“This hawk had caught a pigeon and was being harassed by crows. S/he flew across the street, then back, landed in the tree in the background, dropped the pigeon, and then flew right past my window. It was all very exciting – especially for the pigeon!”
