Well this is one of the more awesome emails I’ve received lately. And to be clear the thanks go to you awesome people who made this happen:

“I’m Muhtadi one of the physicians in DC, i asked popville on Twitter 10 days ago asking to introduce men to 3d printers in DC. I was trying to get our hospital face shields, many people responded and it worked, we got some and we’re getting more. I attached some photos of the face shields. Thank you popville.”

In addition to thanking the awesome readers who answered this call, allow me to turn this around and thank Muhtadi and all the other Doctors, nurses, technicians and all the support staff working the front line. THANK YOU!!

Though wasn’t expecting it at this time.

Thanks to DC Cyclist and many, many, many other for sending from Brookland (and all over the District) yesterday:

“Putting the pandemic aside, as long as these folks aren’t harming others or damaging property, I wouldn’t mind this sort of thing if all these vehicles were electric. But the noise and the pollution (I assume many are 2-cycle) are definitely a nuisance in their current form.” (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

I hope everyone is well and thank you for your service. As coronavirus masks are not easy to find, and not everyone has the materials to make one at home, I thought it might be good for the community to know where you can find coronavirus masks.

I learned today, that Lucas Tailor and Cleaner, in Georgetown (1520 Wisconsin Ave, NW), is making and selling coronavirus masks. They are currently selling 3 masks for $15, and 5 masks for $20.”

If folks know of other places, please leave in the comments, thanks.

“Dear PoPville,

I’d love to find out what the status is of daycares charging families. Currently ours is closed but charging full price for families to keep their spot, or else we have to drop out of the daycare altogether. I’ve heard of other daycares closing and not charging. What are people’s experiences?”

Ed. Note: This demand follows multiple complaints discussed here.

From the DC Attorney General’s Office:

“Attorney General Karl A. Racine, New York AG Tish James, and Pennsylvania AG Josh Shapiro today demanded Town Sports International, LLC (TSI) stop charging membership dues to gym members during the COVID-19 public health emergency. In the District, TSI’s Washington Sports Club (WSC) facilities are closed as part of the District’s emergency response to the pandemic. While many fitness clubs have provided automatic membership freezes at no cost, TSI has continued to charge District customers for memberships they cannot use. (more…)
