Join Rock Creek Conservancy, the National Park Service, and the National Environmental Education Fund to celebrate National Public Lands Day, a day to connect people to public lands in their community, inspire environmental stewardship, and encourage the use of public lands for education, recreation, and general health.
Volunteers will continue a summer-long restoration project at the Piney Branch tributary. All summer, we have been removing invasive vines from this spot to get ready for this moment. Now we’re planting native plants to help restore the forest floor and bring back the beautiful biodiversity of Rock Creek!
Afterward, we will move to Picnic Grove #1, where we will host our first ever Volunteer Appreciation Picnic! There will be food, friendship, and some volunteer awards.
