Jared wrote us: “NBD, just a segway exploding at Dulles. Happened around 7:30pm. Walked by briskly as it was smoking. When I got to security, it burst into flames.”

Dulles wrote: ‘ALERT: Around 7:30p.m. smoke was observed in the main terminal caused by a police motorized segway. Passengers evacuated as a safety precaution. MWAA Fire and Rescue responded, contained the smoke and completed ventilation by 9 p.m. Operations resumed afterwards.”


Folks started messaging us on Tuesday:

“I heard four loud bangs (explosions?) somewhere in columbia heights/park view/petworth over the last 20 or so minutes.”

“Just heard a 5th one. What the hell is going on?!”


“Dear PoPville,

We received an email from Washington Gas that our service is being suspended (disconnected). The “move out request notice”. We called the WGas and it appears as if somebody (they even gave us that person’s name) requested to activate the service at our address. No details on how (call or email). We’re in a four-unit apartment building. Has anything similar happen to anyone else?”
