You guys haven’t been stumped yet this week. Ever actually. So this is located on a huge piece of land not terribly far from Tenleytown. Here’s the corner where I took the photo:

Was this a former military testing ground or something like that?

There is a fenced off vacant lot on the 900 block of S Street, NW that has me baffled. Was this a playground at one point? What’s the metal structure inside? Anyone know what’s going on here? It seems so random on a traditional street filled with classic rowhouses.

This odd mural is located on the side of the Steak ‘n Egg Kitchen located on Wisconsin Ave just north of Tenleytown. What’s even more bizarre is that it is located right next to a big Obama mural?

The “I don’t speak English” seems to be a part of the original work and not just graffiti. Or do you think it is graffiti? What am I missing here? This is bizarre, right?

This was located on a residential street in Truxton Circle. I think it is like the 2 or 300 block of P Street, NW. The sign now sits on a vacant lot. I can’t imagine there was a fast food restaurant here. Any ideas on what was here?

Thanks to a reader for sending this bizarre flier “found taped over the pickup hours on a mailbox in NW DC”. Doesn’t seem like the smartest approach one can take to support the legalization of marijuana. Has anyone else seen a flier like this around town?

I thought I knew all of DC’s Universities but stumbled upon this one on Sunday. Their small Web site says:

” International Graduate University, a private, nonprofit 501(c)(3) educational institution, founded in 1967, licensed to award graduate degrees by the District of Columbia, and approved by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs for veterans benefits, and provides I-20 Visas for students who apply and are accepted for admission with the application form presented in this website.”

They are located at 1325 D Street, SE. But when I asked some neighbors about it they said they thought the school was closed. I called the number listed and got an active voicemail so perhaps they are still open. Anyone familiar with this school? They did have an interesting lawn decoration:

Sadly they stopped shoveling their sidewalk half way…

“Dear PoP,

I live in mount vernon square and i was wondering if you know what the deal is with the metal tracks in the street/side walk around the convention center. they’re on 7th and 9th and on the sidewalks around the building.

i’ve thought of lots of different explanations (both practical and ridiculous) but i’m not really sure. any ideas?”

I am completely stumped. But first reader that gets it (and I can confirm it) gets a free PoP t-shirt. What the Helen of Troy is This?

I don’t know what exactly drew me to focus on these rocks. But when I realized they were all painted like feet I started to hyperventilate a bit. Perhaps I’ve watched one too many episodes of Dexter but seeing all these rocks made me very uneasy…
