“At an event with Washington D.C. mayor Muriel Bowser, U.S. Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton, D.C. Councilmember Kenyan McDuffie, DC Water Chief Executive Officer and General Manager David L. Gadis, and other local officials, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Michael S. Regan announced a $156 million Water Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act (WIFIA) loan to the District of Columbia Water and Sewer Authority (DC Water). This loan will help finance water infrastructure improvements throughout the city, including new water mains to improve drinking water quality and reduce service disruptions resulting from breaks in aged pipes. Long story short, starting early December (specifically the week of 12/6), our Pepco bill doubled from historical levels. Last night we received a number of reports about Comcast/Xfinity outages (service appears to be restored for many though some are still experiencing slowness as of this morning.) Doesn’t seem related bu thanks to Nat for sending this interesting tidbit: “I got an email from my apartment about RCN possibly experiencing “sun outages” between Feb 27 and March 8. I wonder if that’s what’s happening to Comcast?”
