Ed. Note: Still a bit of a learning curve…

From Lime:

“Lime is launching its industry leading Gen4 electric scooter in the District this week, making Washington DC one of the first cities in North America to have a full fleet of the new model available for use. The Gen4 scooter will provide DC riders with the safest, smoothest, and most environmentally friendly shared scooter ride available. The new Gen4 scooters will also be equipped with lock-to technology in order to comply with new regulations that will require scooters to be locked to bike racks, sign posts for parking or stop signs, or left in in-street bicycle and scooter corrals. Thanks to Jenna (and others) for passing on from Free2Move:

“As you are aware, as part of our Car Sharing service Free2Move offers all members both residential parking and metered parking at no cost to you. Over the past few months we have been working with the City of Arlington to renew our permits to operate in Arlington. Unfortunately, we have not been able to renew the permit and we were notified today by the City of Arlington to cease our operations in the area. (more…)

My work has charging and I am tentatively planning on utilizing fast charging on weekends, when needed. I would appreciate any insights your readers might be able to provide if they’ve had experience owning an EV in the city.”

From the Mayor’s Office:

“Today, Mayor Muriel Bowser announced that the Ticket Amnesty Program deadline has been extended from September 30 until December 31, 2021. Since the program launched on June 1, 2021, more than 32,000 drivers have already participated in the program, collectively settling $44 million worth of tickets. Now, District and non-District drivers have until the end of the year to take advantage of the District’s amnesty program that provides the opportunity to pay, without the doubling penalty, outstanding tickets for parking, photo enforcement, and minor moving violations. Thanks to Jeremy for sending the new scooter locks seen on Georgia Ave. Last week we learned that “Starting October 1, DC law will require all riders to lock scooters to a bike rack, sign post, or bike/scooter corral after use.”

And thanks to Rob for sending this sign from 14th Street:

T-4 days.

From DDOT:

“The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) today announced that beginning October 1, 2021, District-permitted electric scooters will be required to lock to city infrastructure when parked throughout DC. (more…)
