“Dear PoPville,
Me and my dog were hit by a car while running in a marked crosswalk on upper Ct Ave this morning (Tuesday). We are both okay, $300 in vet checkups later, but the guy who hit us had out of state plates and the DC police told me it wasn’t worth pursuing the matter. This in spite of the fact that we were already in the crosswalk when the car began moving towards us, and in spite of the fact that it accelerated towards us while I screamed so loudly that my Apple Watch registered a noise level alert.
Last year, a close friend of mine was hit by a car, also in a marked DC crosswalk, after she recalls “making eye contact” with a driver who then proceeded to hit her anyway. In October, another close friend was hospitalized and left with permanent nerve damage and vision loss when a young woman plowed into her and her dog in a marked crosswalk with a walk signal on Bradley Boulevard. And not even a month ago, my best friend rushed her dog to the ER after she was hit by a car in Takoma Park.
Why aren’t we holding drivers accountable for these incidents?! (more…)

On Sunday, March 16th, between 1:30 AM and 2:00 AM, my boyfriend was hit by a red sedan while biking home from work. The driver fled the scene.
📍 Location: 12th St NE (between G St & Maryland Ave, Washington, DC)

“The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a traffic crash that resulted in severe injuries of a pedestrian in Northeast.
On Thursday, February 13, 2025, at approximately 5:05 p.m., an adult male was walking westbound, on the north sidewalk, in the 600 block of Michigan Avenue, Northeast, when he was struck from behind by an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) operated by an unknown male suspect. The ATV was using the sidewalk to travel and after striking the pedestrian the driver fled the scene on the ATV. The pedestrian was transported to an area hospital by DC Fire and EMS and is being treated for life-threatening injuries. (more…)

(Sunday) morning as I drove over to the Giant on O St there was a plentiful amount of terrible driving happening. Drivers blocking one way roads, blocking bike lanes, driving down the middle of the road. The cherry on top was pulling into the parking garage and finding this. (more…)
