This is from Biltmore St, NW that many folks were fond of last week.
This is def. one of the more unusual (but equally cool) transoms I’ve seen in DC.

I can’t tell you how happy it makes me when people make fun of me for posting doors, windows and transoms and then when I don’t post them for a week or so, I get emails asking to post them! Those emails, truly and genuinely make my day. It reminds me I’m not crazy, well I might be crazy but it reminds me I’m not alone…

This is my new favorite (non house number) transom from the U St, NW area.

This is the first one I’ve seen with this type of style.

Which do you like better?

This house from the Mt. Vernon Sq/Chinatown area is a bit beat up. I hope whoever buys this one is able to save the stained glass:

From the folks behind the new building at 1020 Girard St, NW:
“Thanks to you, your readers and posters we wanted to do a little something special!”
Very cool!
And a reader writes:
“Dear PoP,
I always loved it when you feature sweet transoms on your blog, and now I want in on the action. I JUST bought my first home (found it on a recent GDoN post, no less!) and have a nice clean pane of glass above my front door itching for some color. I’m not at all creative, so I’m wondering — where do you go to get a transom made? Are there pros out there that will do this for you, and about how much can I expect it to cost?
Thanks! Hopefully one day my transom will be sweet enough for PoP. :)”
Congrats on your new home! I once made some recommendations here but the two I’ve corresponded with are:
M. Martingdale – [email protected]
and
For those who’ve had custom transoms made – how much did it cost?
You can see some of my favorite transoms here.

I guess I’m a little obsessed with sunrooms today. This one is from Capitol Hill. The sad thing is that this one didn’t look like it was being used except for storage. I’ve never seen stained glass on every single window of a sunroom before like this:

Continuing with the eagle theme…
