In light of the fantastic weather, I’m seeking information about the status of Garfield Park and East Potomac Tennis Courts. Does anyone have information about the net removal and extended closure of the courts at Garfield? Also curious if the DC tennis universe has the scoop on when East Potomac will reopen?”

The culinary competition, which was relaunched for the second time in Club history in October, gave local restaurateurs and food and beverage suppliers from Washington, D.C., Maryland and Virginia the opportunity to grow their businesses by selling their unique menu items and products at Nationals Park beginning this season. “The Washington Capitals unveiled today a special 50th Anniversary Cherry Blossom Capitals jersey as well as Capitals Cherry Blossom merchandise available for purchase at the Team Store at Capital One Arena and Team Store at MedStar Capitals Iceplex.

As part of the Capitals 50th Anniversary celebration and the return of the team’s retro jerseys, the new design features the Screaming Eagle grabbing a cherry blossom branch and a color scheme that matches the petals. The design continues into the numbering, which features full color blossoms and stems. The shoulders feature the Capitals 50th patch in pink with additional cherry blossoms. (more…)


“Dear PoPville,

The Rock Creek Tennis bubble (run by Guest Services) has been having its issues this year with the heat getting knocked out for several weeks and then the bubble came down because of snow. It’s operational now but I wonder how safe it is. Came across the jerry-rigged system for what I assume is for heat. One cigarette flicked and who the hell knows? Anyone know who certifies a subcontractor and their work on NPS land?”

UPDATE: “The designated propane storage area is a temporary setup that complies with safety regulations. Storing propane indoors is not permitted, which is why it has been placed outside, as indicated by the posted warning signs and fencing around the area. (more…)
