The reader found this one on Capitol Hill. I kinda liked it because I just read a great short story about a tiger in an old New Yorker, dang can’t remember the author but I think it was in the summer fiction issue.

This sweet shot is from scottahb. I really like the angle of this photo. I got to give it to Wonderland (11th and Kenyon, NW) they really have a good eye for details. Notice the ivy as well. I’m told a non damaging type of ivy has been planted which should grow all around the top for a pretty cool look.

I love the fact that our city has an Eritrean Cultural & Civic Center.

From an email:
“DC based indie rockers Sweet Interference will be playing at DC 9 (1940 9th Street, NW) this Thursday, July 9th. Attendees can expect an evening full of unique music styling at one of the city’s great live music venues. Sweet Interference released their sophomore album in February and is working on music for their third. The set will include many new songs mixed in with fan favorites. They will be joined by B-Film Extras (DC) and Gills and Wings (Richmond). 21+/9pm/$8″
Mock DC Mayoral Campaign – Vote Batwoman
“Dear PoP,
I just wanted to give you a heads up on a cool event that’s taking place this week in DC. NOI is hosting an organizing “Bootcamp” where participants are running a mock DC mayoral campaign with superhero candidates. I was wondering if you could mention my team’s campaign, Batwoman for DC Mayor. If elected, Batwoman would be the first openly lesbian mayor of DC. She’s running on a platform of equality for all residents of DC– gay or straight, black or white, educated or uneducated.
You can check out her website here: http://www.batwomanfordc.com/. The online vote will take place this Friday, July 10th.”

It’s signs and gestures like this that remind me why I love this city so much.

4th and N Street, NW
While the sign itself isn’t that amazing, I’m hard pressed to find a better name than Hoagi House. Anyone ever lucky enough to try one when they were open?

A buddy of mine saw this sign on 16th a few years ago and thankfully still had it on his camera phone. Too good.

While the Tiki Seafood sign has been featured before, this perspective chock full of signs from Matt.Dunn is pretty sweet.

Here’s a speed table:

Here’s a speed hump:

They look nearly identical to me. You think they just got tired of people laughing at Speed Hump?

The sign above was spotted not far from the carriage house one post down. And the following just sorta blew my mind:
