“Dear PoP,

Not sure if you’re familiar with word clouds. Basically, it’s a visual representation of the frequency of words. The bigger the word in the word cloud, the more frequently it appears. I created one for all of the comments you received today on the wine bar. It would be interesting to do this for some of the other comment-heavy postings you’ve had.

Note that I did a “find and replace” to remove words such as today’s date, the time, am, and pm because those words appear in each posting and I didn’t want them to skew the results.”

Here’s the original post on Room 11 from yesterday. That word cloud is very cool, I hadn’t seen one of these before.

Typing at a computer all day and night, my neck is killing me. Last weekend I walked past Lunar Massage at 1101 5th Street, NW. They say 20 minutes for $26. Is that a good deal?

And here’s the carriage house folks have been mentioning when talking about the “pink house” at the corner of 4th (or is it 5th?) and M Streets, NW.  Absolutely awesome!

I love the fact that our city has an Eritrean Cultural & Civic Center.

From an email:

“DC based indie rockers Sweet Interference will be playing at DC 9 (1940 9th Street, NW) this Thursday, July 9th. Attendees can expect an evening full of unique music styling at one of the city’s great live music venues. Sweet Interference released their sophomore album in February and is working on music for their third. The set will include many new songs mixed in with fan favorites. They will be joined by B-Film Extras (DC) and Gills and Wings (Richmond). 21+/9pm/$8″

Mock DC Mayoral Campaign – Vote Batwoman

“Dear PoP,

I just wanted to give you a heads up on a cool event that’s taking place this week in DC. NOI is hosting an organizing “Bootcamp” where participants are running a mock DC mayoral campaign with superhero candidates. I was wondering if you could mention my team’s campaign, Batwoman for DC Mayor. If elected, Batwoman would be the first openly lesbian mayor of DC. She’s running on a platform of equality for all residents of DC– gay or straight, black or white, educated or uneducated.

You can check out her website here: http://www.batwomanfordc.com/. The online vote will take place this Friday, July 10th.”

I did a double take when I walked past this tile in Mt. P. It’s just so randomly placed. And of course randomly awesome.

In discussing the Raven renovation a reader commented that they hope the bathroom graffiti would be preserved. So when I went to Wonderland I thought I’d see if any of their bathroom graffiti was interesting. Sure enough this one jumps right out at you. It gave me a good chuckle.
