So last week I received a number of emails about “mini turtles” for sale in Columbia Heights. But nobody took a photo for me… This is why I love twitter! I saw someone’s update said they saw the turtles again. So I begged them to take a photo for me and voila! You can see the small cages on top of the red news box. I asked the twitter user if all three in the photo were selling turtles but she said it was only the guys in white. Pretty wild, yeah? I do fear what happens to the turtles when they grow and are no longer “mini”…

Thanks again to the twitter user for sending the photo!

Can someone recommend a good place to get an oil change? I sadly must be a bit of a masochist and keep going back to Jiffy Lube.

and

Can someone recommend a good dentist?

Well, I thought this was one fine looking birdhouse. Even better if it’s edible, right? Incidentally, has anyone noticed that there are dozens of birdhouses scattered throughout the George Washington University campus?

Thanks to a reader for sending:

“Was in the Mt Vernon Safeway this afternoon, and amongst all the crap vying for attention as you walk in the door, just before the rack of red white & blue carnation arrangements (hopefully offered as an ironic jest in protest to the commercialization of Memorial Day), behold the Hamburger Cake. Yup, it’s a cake. Regular cake size and all. Complete with what look to be real sesame seeds. It can be yours for the low low price of $16.”

I am a huge iced tea fan. Perhaps you’ve seen the commercials about the new “best stuff on earth” by Snapple. I just have to say – the new snapple is terrible! Not even close to as good as the original. So what’s your favorite mass produced iced tea? I think I’m now gonna have to go with Arizona.

I’ve probably walked by this house a thousand times walking down 11th Street. But until I saw some folks looking at the fencing I had never realized exactly how small the area fenced in is. If this ever goes on sale, I’m dying to read the realtor literature. I’m guessing it’ll be called, cozy…

Coming from someone who is fascinated by cool doors, perhaps, this won’t surprise you – I thought this one cool looking mushroom. Anyone know what kind this is? I used to love mushroom hunting back in the day – are there any edible mushrooms that grow wild in DC?

We’ve all heard the rumors/urban legends of what it means when shoes are thrown over telephone wires. So I guess this one was sent as a message by Long and Foster…

This one was even odder:

I swear that was not staged. That was exactly how I saw it. I shudder to think what it may mean. Any ideas?
