Perhaps the owner of this car is a dentist…?

I thought yesterday I had found my new favorite dentist and even though the history is surely not as good – this one can not really be topped. Best if said with some sort of accent.

From Calvert St, NW looking towards 18th St, NW in Adams Morgan. I don’t know if it’s because I was dehydrated at the time but I found this to be so odd I couldn’t stop laughing.

I’ve been noticing these all over DC and in phenomenal timing a friend of mine was emailed the brilliant flier (below) from New York. Lots of love for Lionel lately.

“Dear PoP,
I came out of my house this morning to find a peregrine falcon that was in the process of making a meal of a starling in the middle of the 700 block of Quincy St NW. Pretty cool sight right here in DC! Peregrine falcons are pretty well know adapters to city life as they often roost/nest on the tops of high buildings and prey on pigeons, etc. I am guessing this one has made its home on top of Park Place or one of the other new construction projects around the Petworth metro.”
Hmm, I thought this was a hawk. We’ve been getting lots of Hawk sighting around town including lots of battles.
Here’s a few more recently sent in:

“Got a much better shot of our Mount Pleasant hawk this morning. Judging by my Peterson’s Guide, this is an immature goshawk or possibly an immature red-tailed hawk. Immature he may be, but he’s still really impressive.”

No embarrassment over this interesting hobby. While some may hide their pig collections around the house, this one is displayed proudly in a front window. Guess what neighborhood it’s from?

This is from an incense shop on Georgia Ave, NW. It has one of the strangest window displays I’ve ever seen. We once had a caption contest from it. Walking past it the other day I thought I spotted something, uh, a bit, um explicit. Turns out it is explicit in another way. I’m not exactly sure who would buy a figurine of a someone committing Seppuku but this officially qualifies as the strangest thing I’ve ever seen in a store window. Can anyone top this:

As a child of the 80s I can tell you that this is exactly what it looked like. I was overjoyed to find this school in Capitol Hill still rocking this anti smoking campaign:
