Sweet! Contenders for the coolest parents in town? I imagine there was a debate between a garage/roof deck or this basketball court…

@IAFF36 tweets around 7:40am Sun. Morning:

“Confined Space Rescue – 1200 6th St NW – one person stuck in storm drain

*UPDATE – 1200 6th St NW – patient has been extricated from storm drain, EMS evaluating”

Still waiting to hear on how the guy got into the storm drain.

Alley of 1800 block of 6th St, NW

And in what appears to be a completely separate incident, a reader sends in the photo above from the Alley behind Shaw’s Tavern.

Update

MPD tells me that an adult Latino male was struck by a car and dragged. The body was found in an alley at 1800 6th St, NW. The victim has not been identified yet. This is being investigated by MPD’s major crash unit.

I just caught this unusual sight in the PoPville flickr pool. Obvy writes:

“Can anyone sell FIOS from their front yard?”

It’s a good question – anyone else ever sales like this before?

Every now and then I get some totally random emails. This flier came in one. Is this one of the best or worst ideas you’ve seen in a while?

“Dear PoP,

Wanted to send you a photo I snapped on my drive to work today. Some women waiting to cross Mass Ave. at Rock Creek Dr. (kinda downstream from the Naval Observatory and British Embassy) on their HORSES. Granted, it would appear they were heading down to Rock Creek Park, but still– who rides horses, waiting for traffic, in the city???”

Hahaha, awesome. And in similarly bizarre news – check out what I spotted in someone’s front yard recently:

While it’s very rare that I’ll see one in the back of an open jeep like this, I do see big bulky tvs all over the place in nearly every neighborhood I visit. They can usually be found on the curb and folks don’t even bother to leave ‘free’ signs on them anymore. They have simple become garbage. Wild.

I wonder if there was a similar purge after VCRs became obsolete?

Anyone else noticing a lot of tvs tossed on the curb?
