Why do banks still celebrate the fact that ATMs are open 24 hours a day. Isn’t that sort of a given now? That’s like back in the day, ATT advertising that its pay phones are available 24 hours a day. Uh yeah, we get it. Don’t we?

We’ve talked about dry cleaners from time to time. I’m a devotee of OXXO’s neighbor in Columbia Heights, Georgetown Dry Cleaners both across from the Giant on Park Rd. But I have to say I’m always mesmerized by the automatic pickup machine at the OXXO. Does it work well? How are the prices?
And what do you think Kwame Brown had to do to get his sign in the window?

People are frequently writing me emails asking for suggestions on Bed and Breakfast places to have their folks or friends stay at. So I walked past this Adam’s Inn near Adams Morgan of course and it got me thinking about the question again. Has anyone stayed here or had family stay here? But for our neighborhoods of Petworth, Columbia Heights, Mt. Pleasant, Shaw and the rest can you recommend any Bed and Breakfast spots?

Who is this?

You can’t miss them in their crisp white shirts and black ties often flying by you on their bicycles. I lived in Cleveland/Woodley Park for 5 years and never encountered them once. In Petworth, I see them all the time. So I don’t mean this in a rude way but – why is that?

Look at this thing. I’m no sophisticated critic but I’d have to say it is pretty awful. Please tell me one redeeming quality about this sculpture. Ok, I thought of one, the restaurant Zaytinya is behind it and I kind of like Zaytinya. But seriously, does anyone dig this?
Clement Greenberg famously said, “You like it, that’s all, whether it’s a landscape or abstract. You like it. It hits you. You don’t have to read it. The work of art-sculpture or painting-forces your eye.”
So who likes it?

I often see water cooler bottles on stoops like this but rarely do I see an accompanying keg. I wept a bit at the sight. It reminds me of the angel on one shoulder and the devil on the other. And when’s the last time you’ve seen one of those fancy historical plaques with a keg?

I just don’t get these random proclamations. And what makes someone hang one from their window? I’m dying to know what they “can” do. Care to speculate? Whatever it is, for some reason I find it very petulant. Once again, what’s wrong with me?

Or another reason to hire movers. It had to hit a BMW didn’t it? Wait, I thought those trucks were supposed to make wide turns…
