Today Black Lives Matter DC stands in solidarity with freedom fighters all over the world to honor the lives of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Tony McDade, Dreasjon Reed, and as always those we have lost to police here in DC:

Jeffery Price, age 22, was chased to his death in DC by the Metropolitan Police Department on May 4, 2018.

D’Quan Young, age 24, was shot and killed in DC by the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) on May 9, 2018.

Marqueese Alston, 22, was shot and killed in DC by the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) June 12, 2018

Terrence Sterling, 31, was chased, shot and killed by DC by the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) on September 11, 2016

Ralphael Briscoe– age 18, as shot and killed in DC by the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) on April 26, 2011

From Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton’s Office:
“Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) was briefed by a member of the D.C. National Guard who was on duty last Monday evening when federal police pushed aside peaceful demonstrators to allow President Trump and his staff to go to St. John’s Church for a photo op. What follows is an eyewitness account given to Norton by a National Guard member who was on duty.
Three warnings were given, but the peaceful crowd was too large for most to hear the warnings. The sudden use of smoke and pepper balls caused pandemonium. (more…)

“We walked by this group protesting outside of the Kennedy-Warren apartment complex in Woodley Park and it just made our hearts smile. They’re in the dangerous age range for corona so they couldn’t go the protests downtown, but they clearly wanted to contribute.”

UPDATE: Owner found, dog vaccinated – thanks all!
“Dear PoPville,
I’m looking to get in contact with the owner of the dog who bit my dog at the protest on Saturday. Unfortunately, I didn’t get his info. I believe he was a white male with a brown dog who looked like maybe a lab/pittie mix, and they were stationed near a tree with a silver water bowl out. He asked if my dog was going to be ok, but I just wanted to get her out of there. I didn’t realize she was bleeding until we were down the block. I had to take her to the emergency vet where she received a couple staples. My main concern is whether or not his dog is vaccinated. (more…)
