It’ll be interesting to see how the long vacant property at the corner of 13th and Otis St, NW in Columbia Heights turns out. Looks like the whole block is getting fixed up. Note the house next door is also getting popped up but instead of wood framing is using cinder blocks:

Remember the Pop up at 9th and I St, NE that almost blew over back in Feb. ’11? How do you think it’s started to turn out at this point?

“Dear PoP,
You had a post about a horrific looking pop-up on north capitol (1636 North Capitol St. NW). I wanted to let you guys know that the developer has seemed to actually have done a decent job in matching the new & old facade. I’ve included a photo I took.”
Wow. That’s pretty impressive. What do you guys think?

Thanks to a reader for sending the update. Do you like the way the addition is looking at 2922 Sherman Ave, NW? I’m going with a thumbs up so far.

“Dear PoP,
I live across the street from this unit so I’ve been watching it go up. I think they are turning it into a pop up, which is disappointing.”
We took a look a couple of weeks ago but that was before the pop up. I think it’s still hard to tell at this stage if it’ll be an eyesore or a tasteful pop up. Since it looks like it’s a bit recessed I’ll remain cautiously optimistic that this may turn out ok. We’ll revisit in a couple of months to see how it turns out.

This is looking a lot better than I thought it would. Has it grown on you as well? You can see what it looked like in Jan. here.

This is a wild one from just off H St, NE. I’ve never seen one with a different style top like this before. Any fans?

A neglected pop up. From Shaw. Think at some point it will be salvageable?

This is a pretty unique looking pop up. I don’t think I’ve ever seen one curved a bit like this. What do you think – thumbs up or down?
