“Dear PoPville,

I live in a U-shaped apartment complex where, if I look out my window, I have some great views directly into my neighbors apartments. Now that everyone is working from home, some of my neighbors have taken an interest in my cat, Pico, and we’ve been communicating about her through signs posted in our windows.” (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

I’m writing because of multiple instances of dogs being off leash in parks during this pandemic. I was a dog owner, my dog passed away two month ago, so I understand a dog’s need for exercise, however, we’ve had multiple instances of dogs running up to our 15 month old daughter while off leash. When asked to leashed their pets, owners repeated minimize the importance of social distancing (since now they need to get close to leash their dog if their dog keeps following us) (more…)

Thanks to Bort for sending from Frager’s, Eastern Market, Saturday.

*This series will feature any pets in a backpack/bag. On metro, or not. Corgi, or not.

And while I got a photo of seeds up there – another reader would like to know:

“I’m looking for a good, appropriately socially distant way to get flowers/ plants/ seeds during this. Are there any nurseries/ farmstands/ local growers offering pre-paid delivery or pick-up?

Thanks to Beverly for sharing the good news about Honey:

“A happy ending to your tweet from March 30. Honey was found on our block this morning! Thanks to everyone who looked for him over the last nine days! Columbia Heights neighbors are amazing!

“Dear PoPville,

My partner and I are now both working from home during isolation and while we thought the dogs would enjoy more company around, one of our dogs has been acting out. This week, he’s chewed a shoe up, took a sweet potato pocket off my plate and today woke up to him chewing on a stuffed animal my girlfriend has had for 30+ years–all things he never did until this week. We’ve been playing with them more, taking them on longer walks than we typically would and yet he still misbehaves. He has dozens of toys to chew so he’s not lacking in that department. Just curious if anyone else is noticing their animal’s behavior changing at all. Does he need more alone time to balance out all the time we are spending home? Any reader advice or experience would be appreciated.

“Dear PoPville,

I wanted to share a little light in this hard time. My apartment looks out to an alley with another building on the other side. This morning, I saw a note taped to my neighbor’s window. It’s hard to read, but we think it says “Dear cat across the alley, thanks for being cute!” Of course, Midge said thank you. Right now, it’s the little things that mean so much!”

Longtime readers of the site know my affinity for fish so this one hits home – thanks to Patricia for passing on from Penn Quarter Teaism:

“Well friends… wanted to do a live video but wasn’t sure how to do it on Facebook and Instagram at the same time. If you’re stuck at home with kids who normally like to come watch the fish, you can entertain them with this. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

Whenever my neighbor wants to walk their dogs, they just open up their fenced back yard and allow their dogs to roam freely down the alley behind our houses. The dogs frequently come into my yard and do their business. My home video cameras have captured this multiple times (13 to date). I have talked with them, written them two letters, and sent them a care package of a leash, two collars, and doggie bags, as seen in the attached photo. They keep refusing to leash their animals, and I keep ending up with messes in my backyard. (more…)
