“Dear PoPville,

Some friends found this dog near the Harris Teeter around 17th & Kalorama last night (4/2/14). We gave her a bath and cut off the biggest clumps of matted hair – it’s possible she’s been on her own for a few weeks. Right now she’s staying with another little dog who seems OK with the intrusion.

She’s really a sweet dog, confident and happy, but also grateful for attention. She probably 10 pounds, and the woman from the Humane Society said she’s probably 3 or 4 years old, and generally healthy. She’s quite alert and very friendly.

A stranger said she looks like a Morkie (Maltese / Yorkie).

You can e-mail [email protected] or call 202-487-4253.”

“I found a dog this morning at 4th and R NW. She’s very sweet and seems to be someone’s dog who has been lost for a few days. She didn’t have a collar or microchip. She’s currently at Washington Humane Society on NY Ave.”

“Dear PoPville,

Some good samaritans and I saw this pup hit by a car today. Or rather- she ran into the car at full speed. The owner of the car stopped and waited for help. She has some scratches and was definitely traumatized but physically appears somewhat ok. She had no tags and no microchip. Since it was after hours- we called the humane society since all the vets are closed. He appears to have broken her leash. Can you please share with your crowd in hopes of finding her owner? I’d hate for her to spend the weekend in the shelter after she was so traumatized. She was hit around 7pm on the corner of 11th and Maryland NE. She is currently with WHS at their NY Ave. location.”

UPDATE: Owner Found

“Dear PoPville,

My good friend lost her cat, Minou, yesterday. She was doing some yard work when Minou got startled and managed to sprint out of a gate that had been left slightly ajar. It happened so fast and my friend is quite distraught. Minou is one of the sweetest cats I’ve ever met, and we all adore her. She generally loves humans, but she must be so scared right now, I’m not sure she’d approach anyone. This happened in Trinidad near 15th and Neal St NE.

12 lbs female cat answers to Menew or Nunu.
Green eyes, black and orange patches with white belly.
Lost from 1500 block of Neal St NE on March 9th

“Dear PoPville,

I’m not quite sure what was going on with this little guy, but he was alone. I saw him/her sniffing around the corner of Champlain and Kalorama around 9:15am. I tried to get close, but he or she was very timid. I tried for awhile then they let out a bark and I walked away. They had 2 tags on, so appears to be a pet.”

UPDATE from twitter: “that’s Maybell. She recently moved to Champlain from Swann and she’s fine – I called her owner. They were unloading more stuff. She’s home. Never actually lost – she loves snow and is very independent”

“Dear PoPville,

Please help us find our lost tabby Boris. He’s an inside cat who doesn’t have street smarts anymore and it is breaking my heart that he’s outside in the cold right now. I have reached out through all the appropriate channels (humane society, etc).

He is an orange tabby, sweet personality but most likely scared. He’s ten pounds, with a bit of a belly. He doesn’t have tags because he’s an indoor cat, but he has a chip from the HS. He ran out of our apartment on T street between 13th and 14th, in the back alley that we share with people in Wallach street. He ran down three flights of stairs and I know he must be somewhere close. I can’t imagine not having him in my life and my boyfriend and I can’t stop walking around and looking for him. Please help us, I would be eternally grateful.

He’s so affectionate. My phone number is 337-412-3717 and if someone knows where he is they can post on facebook, call or email [tinkrm(at)gmail.com], at any hour and I will come get him.”
