“Sustainable transportation advocates from around DC will gather on Sun., Mar. 31 at 12 p.m. to call attention to the need for safety measures, including a road diet, on K Street, an essential east-west arterial that crosses North Capitol Street. K Street is an essential through-route for bike commuters, including parents and school children, as it connects connects downtown and Mount Vernon Square to the bike lanes on 4th and 6th Streets NE and the Metropolitan Branch Trail. Organizers are planning a picnic, march and bike ride from the green space at 800 K St NE to 440 K St NW. (more…)

Craft Beer Cellar Now Allowed to Sell Crowlers and will do so starting Friday!

From Craft Beer Cellar:

“In its ongoing efforts to bring amazing beer to people, Craft Beer Cellar DC will begin offering crowlers for sale beginning Wednesday, March 27. Friday.

Crowlers, or can-growlers, are 100% recyclable one-use containers that are filled and sealed, allowing consumers to transport draft beer home for later consumption.

Craft Beer Cellar DC worked with DC City Council Ward 6 Councilmember Charles Allen and the Alcoholic Beverage Regulation Administration (ABRA) to amend the law to allow off- premise retailers to sell crowlers. Previously, retailers were only allowed to sell draft beer to go in growlers, a reusable container. (more…)

“The team behind Burmese bodega Toli Moli has been using its tiny Union Market food hall stall to introduce DC to the wonders of falooda (a parfait-like dessert with basil seeds, ice cream, and flavored gelatin) and mohinga (catfish noodle curry). Now, they’re hoping to give Burmese cuisine an even bigger platform with a sit-down restaurant called Thamee, meaning “daughter.” It will replace Sally’s Middle Name, which closes on H Street Northeast on March 31.”

Euro Style Moving on H Street?

Thanks to Grant for sending their “store moving sale”. Anyone happen to hear where they’re moving to?

Euro Style’s website says:

“Euro Style an urban retail store is located in the 1300 block of H Street, NE Washington, DC. The store offers fashion-forward European inspired contemporary clothing for men and women.

For years before the groundbreaking for the H Street Reconstruction Project, Moe Abdi staked the future of his retail business and his livelihood on faith in H Street’s rejuvenation. He uprooted his fashionable clothing store from trendy Georgetown and planted Euro Style firmly in the 1300 block of H Street NE.

The year was 2004, and his store was surrounded at the time by a glut of vacant, dilapidated, boarded-up buildings. (more…)
