The flier says:

“Excellent opportunity to own this renovated condo in sought after Logan Circle. Features Stainless Steel Appliances, recessed lighting, 9′ ceilings, central cd/intercom, pergo floors, and more.”

Sadly there are no photos but more info can be found here. Assuming the place is renovated does $500,000 sound reasonable for a 2 bed 1 bath in this location?

Now I know one reader is offended when I post homes/condos that are under contract but, well, I still think it’s interesting. Do you guys think GDoN is useful if a unit is under contract? Amazingly the first five houses/condos I was going to put up today ended up being under contract. (As I said I walk around and snap photos of interesting units with for sign sales out front, I don’t know until I plug it into red fin whether or not it is under contract.) Anyway, the unit above is in a great location at 2008 16th Street, NW. More info and photos can be found here. I was stunned to see it for sale for $230,000. I suppose that’s why it’s under contract in under 7 days…

“Dear PoP,

I like your posts on sculptures in front of buildings and homes around DC. There is one abstract sculpture that has frequently piqued my interest, because I can’t figure out what it is supposed to represent. It’s near Dupont on Hopkins Street, which is one of those little side streets that’s only one block long.

My best interpretation is: headless orange giraffe. I suppose it can be the mark of good art that this sculpture defies definition and makes the viewer think. But if you’re looking for more sculptures to post about, I am curious how you and your readers would interpret this sculptural Rorschach test.”

Hmm, I’m gonna say this sculpture reminds me of a dancer. What do you guys think? Does it speak to you?

A friend of mine live nearby and has been forwarding me emails on the efforts neighbors are making to stop the demolition of this property. On Monday night at 7:00 pm (16th and T) there will be a group protesting the demolition of this “historic 1890’s home on the corner of 16th and T”.

Council Member Jack Evans has gotten involved sending an email to the DCRA Director and Deputy Director:

“Linda and Nick,

As I have indicated in previous emails to the both of you, many nearby residents and community leaders, including Rick Busch President of the Dupont Conservancy and Robin Diener President of DCCA, DO NOT WANT TO SEE 1841 16th Street NW demolished because of its historic value to this historic neighborhood. Please continue to work with the owners and please do every thing in your power to secure the building rather than demolish it. I understand that DCRA has ruled that this property is a public safety hazard, if there is a way in which we can stabilize and save the building please know that I strongly am in support that option. If there is anything that I can do to assist DCRA is stabilizing as thus saving this property please contact me directly.

Thank you.

Jack”

I certainly support saving a historic home so hopefully the owner will be forced to make the appropriate repairs. Do you think historic homes should be saved rather than torn down even if it becomes a more expensive option? Should the owner be responsible for making the repairs?

I’m not sure when this happened but it seems the front window of the Aaron Gallery, located at 1717 Connecticut Ave, NW, got broken. Yet the show must go on. It reminds me of when Solly’s had it’s window smashed by the cab and they opened up the next day. Badass. The current exhibit at the Aaron Gallery features Lennon Michalski and Brandon C. Smith and is titled, “Still and Anxious”.

As I’ve recently become a fan of the LA Lakers, Detroit Red Wings and the Bloomingdale Neighborhood – I feel quite comfortable jumping on this bandwagon. Ed. Note: I despise the Lakers and Red Wings but really do love Bloomingdale. Anyway along with the rest of the DC blogosphere, I, too, took a visit to 20th and S Streets to check out the supposed house for MTV’s Real World DC. All signs point to this most likely being the house. There was a cop car stationed out front and some odd parking restrictions out front:

There was even a “guard” at the front door. I happened to notice that the door was open so I took a photo. And the “guard” jumped up and immediately closed the front door. Now here is the PoP exclusive:

You can see there are lights and wires – so this is def. the Real World house!

But I’m seriously confused as to why the filming of this show generates so much hostility. Granted I haven’t seen the show in 13 years but when I watched it, I always thought it was quite entertaining. I’m sure it’s bringing some good tax dollars to DC as well. I have no doubt that some of the cast may be fools. But the fools are the fun ones to watch. Many people feel they’re gonna destroy the neighborhood. So they’ll be going to some bars for a few months. I hardly think that will destroy a neighborhood.

Why does their arrival generate so much hostility? I mean really – we don’t have representation in Congress, crime is out of control, we recently experienced a tax scandal where DC lost $50 million dollars due to stupidity, our public schools are still in poor shape, etc. but some folks are going nuts about this? If only this was all we had to worry about…

Sybaritic Master Bedroom suite features spa-like bath and private roof deck. Separate 2BR in-law apartment and parking for 2-3 vehicles!”

Ok, for all those who have been disappointed with recent house porn, this is for you. Is that virtual tour insane? I should’ve known it was going to be amazing as I had to look up the “Sybaritic” from the flier. It means voluptuous, sensual, from the notorious luxury of the Sybarites. That is one sybaritic master bedroom and entire house for that matter. Is this some proper house porn? It’s yours for $1,875,000.

“This might be the “sickest” condo I’ve ever seen in DC, you gotta put this up…”

If the building looks familiar, we judged it back in mid April. So, do you agree with the reader that this is “the sickest condo in DC”? Worth $1,499,500?

I’ve been curious about this place because it is located on a very small street in southern Dupont Circle. That and I love Italian food. I’m even more intrigued after checking out their web site. Check out the menu and celebrity section here. So any fans out there?
