MPD confirms Shooting in Columbia Heights

Multiple readers reported hearing between 8-12 shots around 4:50pm.

MPD reports:

“The Third District is currently investigating a shooting in the area of 14th Street and Fairmont Street NW. An adult male has been transported to an area hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound to the torso.

Motorists and pedestrians can expect road closures in the area as we investigate.

Anyone with information is asked to call 202-727-9099.”

Pre-pandemic this was massive news to many. I occasionally get queries asking for the status. I haven’t seen much recently except for this tweet by Michael Neibauer:

“Yum! Brands is accepting bids for the buildout of the Taco Bell Cantina at DCUSA. 1,406sf. Your Mountain Dew Freeze with tequila and Cheesy Gordita Crunch await.”

5:45pm Shots Fired in Columbia Heights Being Investigated as a Road Rage incident

From MPD:

“Third District is currently investigating a Road Rage incident that involved gunshots in the area of 11th St and Park Rd NW. The occupant of a vehicle fired shots at another motorist, striking the vehicle. There are no injuries reported at this time. Our preliminary lookout is for a dark 4 door vehicle fleeing the area west on Park Road. Motorists and pedestrians can expect road closures in the area as we investigate. Anyone with information is asked to call 202-727-9099.”

A reader reports: “Shooting occurred around 5:45PM at the corner of 11th and Park Road NW. Three shots fired from one car to another, both drove off. Cops on scene now and have everything tapped off. I witnessed the shooting while walking my puppy.
