The mural, located on the side of the BP station on Connecticut Ave by Fessenden, was completed by Regina Holliday on Sept. 30th 2009. From her Web site:

“Regina Holliday is a DC-based medical rights advocate. She is currently at work on a series of murals depicting the need for clarity and transparency in medical records. Her background is in special ed advocacy, and she is bringing her experience in that field to the field of patients’ rights.” (more…)

Thanks to twitter user @SocJustCampDC for the link. I’ve featured most of these new murals before but the video provides a cool perspective of them.

This mural is by the basketball courts and is so large it’s difficult to get it all in one shot. Part of it even comes off the wall onto the floor:

The mural is sponsored by Words, Beats & Life, the same folks who recently completed the new mural at 14th and Randolph.

The artists commissioned for the Girard Park project are Maxx Moses, Aniekan, and the apprentice is Isaiah Aladejobi.

Thanks to a reader for sending in the photos:

“saw the wall painted white the other day and lots of work yesterday and finally got my camera out this morning. pretty cool mural in the park and new recycling trash cans along with it. you can also see the tree pot in the background with ontario lakers painted on. i think it’s an old youth organization that i’ve seen in some historic photos but i don’t know the background.

the park got an updated dog park in earlier this year too. now if they would only fix the soccer field, which is in terrible shape.”

It looks like it’s gonna be pretty sweet.  It’s quite large too.  I’ll be sure to go back for more when it is completed.  From an email:

“The mural is located on Sherman Ave and Barry Place NW in Washington DC and it is a part of Murals DC 2009. Be a part of it!

The young artists who worked on the mural on Sunday were Derrick, Jamilla, her little brother and sister, Dana, Mika and Cristian. It was wonderful to meet the neighbors and hang out with our friends who came to relax and help with the mural. Thank you. For more photos click here.
