January 14-17 Coronavirus Data New Cases: 3,836 confirmed and 321 probable

January 13, 2022 there were 1,544 new confirmed cases and 76 probable cases

From the Mayor’s Office:

“The District’s reported data for January 14-17, 2022 includes 3,836 new confirmed positive coronavirus (COVID-19) cases, bringing the District’s overall confirmed positive case total to 125,707. The District also reports 321 new probable tests, bringing the overall positive probable tests since October 15, 2021 to 8,203.

The District reported that five additional residents lost their lives due to COVID-19.

· 62-year-old male

Tragically, 1,260 District residents have lost their lives due to COVID-19.

Four new COVID Centers opened today with four additional locations opening Monday, January 24

“Today, Mayor Bowser and DC Health announced the opening of four new COVID Centers with four additional locations opening Monday, January 24. The COVID Centers represent the District’s long-term commitment to expanding access to COVID-19 vaccinations, boosters, and testing opportunities by providing fixed locations with longer hours.

“Getting vaccinated, getting boosted, getting tested, and wearing our masks is how we will get through this,” said Mayor Bowser. “With the COVID Centers, we are doubling down on our commitment to equity and accessibility and ensuring we have the systems in place to support a long-term response that can be dialed-up or down and quickly modified to meet our community’s needs.”

At the COVID Centers, individuals will have access to vaccinations, boosters, and take-home rapid antigen tests as well as a new walk-up testing opportunity which will allow residents to administer and register a PCR test themselves.

COVID Centers in Wards 1, 2, 7, and 8 will open today at 1:00 p.m. and stay open until 8:00 p.m. COVID Centers in Wards 3, 4, 5 and 6 will open Monday, January 24. More information on the four sites opening next week will be shared later this week. All sites will be open six days a week, and sites will rotate off days so that on any day of the week multiple COVID Centers will be open across DC. “The District’s reported data for January 13, 2022 includes 1,544 new confirmed positive coronavirus (COVID-19) cases, bringing the District’s overall confirmed positive case total to 121,871. The District also reports 76 new probable tests*, bringing the overall positive probable tests since October 15, 2021 to 7,882.

*Previously, these were reported as probable cases. The language has been corrected to probable tests to align with the CDC definitions. These are raw counts of submissions to coronavirus.dc.gov/overthecounter and may not represent individual cases.

The District reported that ten additional residents lost their lives due to COVID-19.

January 6 Coronavirus Data New Cases: 1,928

January 5, 2022 there were 1,293 new Coronavirus cases

From the Mayor’s Office:

“The District’s reported data for January 6, 2022 includes 1,928 new confirmed positive coronavirus (COVID-19) cases, bringing the District’s overall confirmed positive case total to 110,040.

Beginning today, DC Health will also report ‘Probable Cases’ data, which includes self-reported positive rapid antigen test results submitted through the over-the-counter test reporting portal.

From October 15, 2021 through January 7, 2022, 59,438 rapid antigen test results were reported, which includes 6,728 self-reported probable positive cases. This includes data from DCPS Safe Return results.

COVID-19 cases are defined per the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and DC Health as confirmed, probable, or suspect based on laboratory, clinical, and exposure data. Reporting of home-based or point-of-care rapid antigen test results may not be complete or representative of case rates in the community. Probable cases can be used in conjunction with confirmed cases to track disease spread, but will be reported separately from confirmed cases to be consistent with CDC definitions.

The community is encouraged to continue reporting the results of their rapid tests at coronavirus.dc.gov/overthecounter
