“Dear PoPville,

I recently overheard a conversation inside ACE Hardware in Woodley Park. A staff member was telling a customer that the store would be closing permanently in a month or two, because it had never made a profit in its 10 year history. Say it ain’t so!”

The owners sadly confirm the coming closing: “We will be closing in August and our team members will be transferred to another one of our locations if they would like to continue to work with us.” (more…)

I rent in a building next door to the Marriott Wardman Park that is slated to be demolished (with a 900 unit apartments constructed in its place). Many renters in the neighborhood are wondering about the timeline of the project (so we can plan accordingly), but we can’t seem to find any specific information (other than the general plans). Does anyone out there have more info or know where we can find it?”

I stopped by the CVS at the corner of Connecticut and Calvert the other day and saw some workers actively taking down Afghan Grill’s signage. Their “open” neon sign was lit though! Any idea if they are closed for good or, hopefully, just replacing their old signs with new ones?”
