“Is this a good deal, especially considering it has a W/D in-unit and a parking spot?”

I think I’d need to see it person based on these photos but if the rooms are nice given the location I’m thinking this is reasonable. What do you guys think is $1700 reasonable for this 1 bedroom duplex/ 1.5 baths carriage house?

“Dear PoP,

Any word on Bella Cafe on Florida? I see they’re open, wondering about the menu, etc.”

I’m happy to report that Bella Cafe has opened at 900 Florida Ave, NW (by the 9:30 Club) in the old Asmara Cafe space. I stopped by and the place is looking great though there are not tons of bells and whistles.

I took some photos of the menu after the jump. Anyone check them out yet? (more…)

“Dear PoP,

This bicycle has been left unclaimed at Duffy’s Irish Pub (2106 Vermont Ave. NW) locked to the bike rack in front for almost a week now. Its a beautiful bike and obviously well cared for by its owner.

It is a vintage cruiser-type bike, rust red in color, with a white wire basket in front, vintage bell and a Honolulu registration tag on the rear (22035) from 1966. It also has a sticker that states ‘mend your fuelish ways’.

Can you post this before it is declared abandoned and taken in by MPD for safekeeping (which almost gaurantees the owner will not be found)?

Duffy’s is closed until Thursday, so after Thursday they can either go directly to Duffy’s and let him know, or they can shoot me an email ([email protected]). Even if it’s after it’s taken in for safekeeping, I can help them retrieve it.”

That is a sweet bike!

And a reader lost some keys in northern Columbia Heights

“Dear PoP,

I seem to have lost a set of keys on Sunday afternoon. There’s a chance I dropped them on the way in from the grocery store. (It was the Harris Teeter, actually, and I drove home so if they did fall, it was somewhere near the car/house.) Could you see if any of your readers picked them up? There’s a car key plus four other keys on a Coach key ring.”

If anyone happened to pick up these keys please email me and I’ll put you in touch with the reader.

I know they’ve only been open for a little more than a week but I’m dying to hear from folks. There was a lot of anticipation when we heard that Desperados was moving into the old Polly’s space at 1342 U St, NW. Maybe it’s too early for a proper judging but for those who’ve checked them out, what are your initial thoughts re: their burgers and the overall atmosphere?

For those that meet the income restrictions this could be awesome. If you meet it a 1 bedroom could be yours for $995. Anyone familiar with the building?

“Dear PoP,

Any idea what is the building at the corner of 13th and W st NW? It has a couple doors in front, and a couple truck loading docks in back. Maybe a power substation or telecom building?”

Hmm, it’s funny I’ve walked past this building a million times and never thought who actually owns/runs it. We learned about the odd Verizon building on 14th St, NW so is this a Pepco building? Anyone guesses?
