From a press release:

In celebration of opening day, sweetgreen is inviting guests to “Pay What You Want,” with all proceeds benefiting sweetgreen in schools, a series of hands-on nutrition classes in collaboration with DC Farm to School; the program teaches students about nutrition, the importance of local sourcing, and how to take charge of their own health.

With its own street entrance on W (separate from the lobby of the YMCA), the new sweetgreen will be the largest to-date, with 60 seats inside and an additional 20 seats on the outdoor patio. The store will also conveniently offer a juice window selling sweetpress, sweetgreen’s line of freshly pressed, raw juice. Additionally, the second floor of the YMCA will have a state-of-the-art test kitchen which sweetgreen will co-brand and use for its sweetgreen in schools program.

Dear PoPville,

I have a super small 1 bedroom (apprx 450 sq ft) on U Street (between 15th and 16th) that has a decent outdoor space, enough for a garden, wood floors, washer/dryer, updated a few years back. I will be relocating and renting out my home of the last several years. I’m out of touch w/rental costs. I want to charge a reasonable rent. The gentleman that sold me the condo gave me an amazing deal because “I was young and deserved an opportunity”. I want to pass that on :)

After paying my mortgage, etc. $1450 (that includes utilities) seems fair. Would that be considered affordable and fair?

A new coffee bar, The Wydown, is coming to the former Aroma Cafe space at 1320 U Street, NW. This will be a pop up location for about six months. If all goes well they will be opening later this week.

When the Louis project is finished on 14th Street just south of U Street, NW – they will have a permanent retail space of about 1000 square feet in between the coming Trader Joe’s and the coming Tico restaurant. Sweet!

Seafood & Crab was located at 1936 14th Street, NW and was home to one of the longest running grand opening signs in the district. The mystery of differentiating crab from seafood was never resolved. The space then briefly became a Chidogo hot dog spot and soon it will be part of the Louis Project featuring a Trader Joe’s.
