This looks like a nice reno but I’m curious what you think because it’s been on the market 128 days. I’m guessing folks will have a lot to say about the location. It was originally going for $524,900 but is now on the market for $499,000. Sound reasonable?

“I was thinking of making an offer on a house which I actually found through a comment on one of your other GDoNs. It is an interesting place and the rental basement which goes for about 950/month makes it affordable for me.

I went to two open houses and really love it but I’m nervous about it since it’s my first house. I was concerned about the lack of storage and the owner said he would construct a huge new closet in an existing nook.. Anyway, I’m going back this weekend and figured if the PoP crowd said it was a good deal I may just bite the bullet.”

I like that it’s on a nice “mini” street. Help the reader out – $474,900 sound reasonable for this house?

“Dear PoP,

I am researching the area around Truxton Circle. During my research, I discovered that the fountain from Truxton Circle is located in Fort Washington National Park in inventory, along with some other treasures (bricks from the Capitol, Washington Monument, McMillan Statue). I went out on Friday to photgraph the remains of the fountain and I attached some pics for any interested residents around the Truxton area.

The circle was located at the intersection of Florida and North Cap, GIS images still show the lots contoured to the circle. Fort Washington Park is located at 13551 Fort Washington Road, Fort Washington, MD 20744 and is quite the gem itself.”

Well this is super cool. Thanks a million for sending and keep us updated on your research!

This past weekend the O Street Artist Studios, located at 52 O Street, NW, had an open house for its artists. There was some great art, but I was most taken with the building itself. Super cool.

More photos after the jump. (more…)

This is a serious renovation edition. Not a lot of original details seemed visible from the photos but I did like the exposed brick walls. The asking price has dropped from $649,000 to $599,000. Seem reasonable?

Dang, I can’t remember what street this is but you can see a Truxton Circle Banner…

So I’m wondering what folks think of the combination of red brick with the tan stone. Thumbs up or down?

I love not having a destination on my walkabouts because I somehow always manage to end up stumbling upon the coolest places. So at first, I just thought this was a cool building with some sweet weathered old school signs. But upon further inspection I noticed a sign that said it was the Brass Knob’s warehouse.

The Brass Knob is the cool spot we looked at last May in Adams Morgan on 18th Street. This warehouse is located at 57 N Street, NW. I nearly had a heart attack when I entered and was greeted by dozens and dozens of old doors. Mind you, it’s been fairly well established I’m not 100% normal and of course post a “door of the day” feature. I guess you can imagine my reaction.

The place is huge. It has two floors and an outdoor area. In addition to doors there were hundreds of windows, radiators, bathtubs, and much much more. Super cool. Lots more photos after the jump. (more…)

Well I’ve finally hit all three monotheistic religions. Pretty cool that they got there own street name too.
