Been getting tons of queries about that super low helicopter spotted all over Takoma, Silver Spring, Chevy Chase and elsewhere today. From the NNSA:

“The U.S. Department of Energy’s National Nuclear Security Administration (DOE/NNSA) will conduct low-altitude helicopter flights over downtown Washington, D.C. and areas in and around the Nation’s capital beginning on October 19 in preparation for the Presidential Inauguration. The Eleanor Silver Spring’s dining room and patio (931 Ellsworth Drive) are open for social-distance seating — and pups are welcome.

The Eleanor also hosts a Happy Hour from 4 to 7 p.m. with wines by the glass, beer, single mix rails and house margaritas all for $5. It will be a fairly substantial cafe seating area wrapping the corner of Georgia and Bonifant, with a large portion composed of a closed off parking lane on Bonifant which will be tented and beer garden-y. “did anyone just hear/see the 2 helicopters and dozens of police cars that just sped down Georgia Ave?”

First Food Hall coming to Silver Spring, “New Tower Delivering in 2022 Will Be Silver Spring’s Tallest Building”

“Washington Property Company (WPC) plans to bring a 15,000 square foot food hall/city market to the street level of its next apartment community, scheduled to break ground in early 2020 and deliver in mid-2022. This will be the first food/city market hall in rapidly redeveloping Silver Spring.

Slated to be the tallest building in all of Silver Spring with 26 floors, Solaire 8200 Dixon will have 403 apartments and an enviable range of amenities including a rooftop fitness center, pool, and sky lounge, as well as a club room with co-working facilities, catering kitchen, 24-hour concierge and package service, pet spa, and more. District Taco opening in Silver Spring July 1st! First 100 get a “District Taco goodie bag full of swag and a free meal.”

“District Taco, a popular fast-casual Mexican restaurant in the D.C. Metro area, is opening its second restaurant in the state of Maryland on July 1, 2019. The restaurant is located in The Blairs Shopping Center, on East West Highway. The restaurant, at 1310 East West Highway, will join Mamma Lucia, Giant Foods, CVS, and Peet’s Coffee among others in the shopping center.

This marks the second restaurant opening in Maryland for restaurateur Osiris Hoil and his rapidly growing restaurant chain. The company, which now employs more than 400 people and operates 13 locations throughout D.C, Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania, expects to expand with a restaurant in Abington, PA, and another Philadelphia location adding 100 employees to the company in 2019. From there, the restaurant chain plans to open multiple restaurants in 2020.

The Grand Opening for the Silver Spring location will be on Monday, July 1st at 12pm. (more…)
