“At approximately 7:30 this morning an adult male victim was in the 4900 block of Georgia Ave. NW when he was approached from the rear by the suspect. The suspect said “Hey”. When the victim turned around to face the suspect, the suspect shot him twice striking him in both legs. The victim was transported to the hospital and treated for non-lifethreatening injuries. The lookout for the suspect is a black male in his 20’s, 5’10” tall, medium brown complected with a full beard last seen wearing black pants and a black jacket.

“Dear PoPville,

My neighbor and I have been in a heated (ok, casual) debate about the north boundary of Petworth. The Brightwood Park and Petworth wikipedia pages give conflicting information for the north border of Petworth.

Brightwood south border according to brightwood park wiki page:

Emerson Street NW to the south.

Petworth north border according to Petworth wiki page:

to the north by Hamilton Street NW

Do you have any official take on this so we can stop the madness?”

OK, OK, OK, here it goes – when I moved to Petworth in 2003 most folks I spoke to said that the north border of Petworth was firmly considered Kennedy Street though some people pushed it all the way to Missouri. From Kennedy Street to Missouri was considered Brightwood Park and north of Missouri was/is Brightwood proper. So, by order of the Prince of Petworth I officially declare the northern boundary of Petworth to be Kennedy Street, NW. Having said that, call it what you will – you people drive me crazy : ) As for the southern border…

From MPD Thursday night:

“On today’s date at 1840 hours – Robbery Force & Violence – CCN: 18-013-992 @ 13th and Allison Streets, NW – C1 reported he was walking east in the 1300 block of Allison Street when he was approached by a male suspect wearing a mask. The suspect pushed C1 on the ground, at which time about 10 other suspects appeared and began beating C1 all over his body. The suspects then fled on foot in an unknown direction. – no weapons

C1 refused medical attention.

Taken from C1 during the assault was a IPhone and sneakers.

No usable look out provided at this time.”

Never mind, I don’t want to know. Oh dear God, I didn’t think we’d have anything more disgusting today than the man who spit water on the Qualia employees. This is so wrong (I’ve blurred the particularly gory parts in the photo above so your sleep shan’t be ruined like mine and OPs):

This is a couple doors down from Little Coco’s and just up the block from Lyman’s/Derby/Taqueria Habanero/Mezcalero/soon-to-be Little Havana! Lots of changes happening on this stretch of 14th…”

Scuttlebutt Confirmed!! New Cuban Restaurant, Little Havana, Coming to same block as Taqueria Habanero, Mezcalero, Red Derby and Lyman’s!!

Back in June we shared some scuttlebutt about a new Cuban restaurant coming to half of Delicia’s Market at 14th and Quincy St, NW. A new liquor license placard confirms it as Little Havana:

“New Class “C” Restaurant serving Latino-American cuisine. Total Occupancy Load of 60 and seating for 60. Sidewalk Café with 12 seats.”

This ought add another wrinkle to the friendly Taqueria Habanero vs Mezcalero rivalry.

The famed “Columbia Heights Chicken” spotted strutting down 11th Street back in 2012.

Repeat. There is a chicken on the loose!! Thanks to Loren for letting us know:

“I deeply apologize for having no photos but there is a chicken on the loose around 13th and Quincy for those who need a little joy in their AM.”

It had been 8 months since our last Chicken on the loose spotting. May their freedom, no matter how long, be sweet.
