Dear PoPville,

Right now we are open from 9am-6pm tues-sun. We are closed monday. Breakfast and lunch, soups, salads, sandwiches, and desserts.

Thank you,
Chef Alfio

Zuppa Fresca is located in The Loree Grand at 250 K Street, NE. You can see their menu here.

As soon as they get their liquor license they’ll be open for dinner (I’ll be sure to update.)

Anyone check them out for breakfast or lunch?

DCNoMa shares the good word (and has a preview of the menu) about the restaurant that’s going to take over Gillian Clark’s aborted Kitchen on K Street in NoMa. The Loree Grand (250 K Street, NE) announced on Facebook:

“We’re excited to announce the opening of the new restaurant Zuppa Fresca at The Loree Grand on February 1, 2012! Chef Alfrio Celia will make his Washington debut with sensational Italian fare. The restaurant will serve breakfast, lunch, and brunch, with dinner and drink service to come! Make sure to grab a menu from the Concierge!”

Thanks to a commenter for bringing this to my attention. From the NoMa BID:

“Ambassador Escort Service – Upon request, NoMa BID Ambassadors will escort people to their vehicle or transit stop within NoMa BID boundaries. The program is offered seven days a week from 4 p.m. to 10:45 p.m. To request an escort, please dial 202-421-5090 at least 15 minutes prior to departure.”

At the end of October, the restaurant America closed in Union Station. The space has been completely gutted:

I also noticed that the small retail spaces adjacent to the former restaurant have been closed and drywalled over:

Though comic fans should know Phantom has moved upstairs:

I chatted with a bunch of merchants who all believe a new restaurant will be moving into the space. Though a few had also heard that Starbucks would be moving into the space. Starbucks currently has a small space closer to the Amtrak loading zones. Stay tuned for more info as it becomes available.

The DC NoMa blog shares the sad news:

“Chef Gillian Clark’s Kitchen on K Street will not open on the ground floor of the Loree Grand as planned. Cooked up as the “second-generation” Colorado Kitchen, the venue’s arrival was much-anticipated in a neighborhood with only one full-service restaurant to boast.”

This obviously also doesn’t bode well for any who still held out hope that Chef Clark’s Petworth project would be coming anytime soon (or at all)…
