I’ve always loved this building in Mt. Vernon Square. I am an admitted sucker for fire-escapes but it’s also got great details:

Too bad plans for a Tavern with Middle Eastern food never worked out. Hopefully someone else will lease/buy this great space.

This rental is located at m st nw at 5th st nw:

Wow, don’t know how I missed this – but the Liberty North Community Market recently launched at the corner of 5th and I St, NW next to Bicycle Space. Unfortunately it was pouring rain when I stopped by on Sat. and that day’s market was canceled. It’s Web site says:

Join our new open-air market in heart of D.C. We are putting together an extensive fine arts and crafts section along with a variety of other vendors one would associate at a great outdoor market.

We want to include all types of art work including:
paintings/prints
sculptures
metals
ceramics
instructional classes/demonstrations
photography
on location portrait/illustrative artists
basically everything in the world of art
fashion
jewelery
food
collectibles
furniture/antiques
bakery
coffee/tea
produce
lighting/home decor
perfumes/cologne
other interesting products/services

Looks like they launched April 2nd. Anyone check them out yet?

Well you can barely make out the sign but I’m 99% sure it says B. Roth Saddlery from 1033 7th St, NW at the corner of L. I’m pretty sure the building next door has been nominated as a horse’s ass award. I guess I should add this one to the list as well. Pretty ironic/awesome that the building used to sell saddles.

But the fact that you can still (barely) see a sign for B. Roth Saddelry is pretty cool. Hard to imagine horses galloping down 7th St, NW.

Well this is definitely going to be one to keep our eyes on. A recent liquor license application says simply:

“High-end fine dining restaurant in a small intimate space. Occupancy load of 52.”

Though Metrocurean reported this summer:

Chef RJ Cooper has found a new home for the ambitious 24-course menu he created while at Vidalia. The 52-seat restaurant will only serve Cooper’s 24-course tasting menu during one dinner seating Tuesday-Thursday and two dinner seatings Friday and Saturday evenings. The tasting menu experience will ring up at $130 and $170 for alcoholic beverage pairings.

The liquor license application lists the location as 922-924 N Street, NW (Rear) which is actually in Blagden Alley.

Ed. Note: 922 N St, NW facing N St was a recent GDoN post in Jan. ’11.

Not in a million years would I think this sight could lead to a fancy restaurant:

Though I do like this adjacent door:

Here’s the only indication that a “high-end fine dining restaurant” is coming:
