Sad news for Shaw this weekend. Just a couple of weeks ago we judged Taqueria Mexicana to very positive reviews. Taqueria Mexicana was located in the former Cafe Eagle and former Vegetate space at 1414 9th St, NW. I happened to run into the owner who was on a delivery and he told me that he had to close because the rent was simply too high. He’s gonna look for a new location but he is not 100% sure he will reopen. He may continue as a caterer and in the short term will provide catering on weekends.

The last Bike House clinic of the season is this Saturday, December 10th at Qualia coffee (3917 Georgia Ave. NW). Come work with our expert mechanics to get your bike ready for winter–and don’t worry, we have events planned for the months ahead, and clinics will start up again soon.

and a Pop-up vintage event this Saturday, December 10:

It’s a vintage fashion collective, taking place at Bar 7 (1015 7th street NW — Mount Vernon Square) from noon to 6pm. There will be a DJ and full bar, and the event is free to attend. Several of the District’s independent vintage collectors and designers will be exhibiting and selling their wares, and a portion of the proceeds will benefit Urban Promise.

One of my favorite houses in the city. What do you think of the inside? This 4 bed/3.5 bath is yours for $1,250,000.

Last week the Washington Post reported:

“Living Social continues to rapidly expand and consume new office space in the District to accommodate that growth.

The online coupon company plans to lease 1005-1011 7th Street NW, a historic property across the street from the Walter E. Washington Convention Center commonly referred to as the Acme Stove Building, owned by Douglas Development.”

Walking by last weekend I was surprised to see the building completely covered as work had already begun.
