Last week we had a quick Chipotle update but I’ve just received a press release stating that Mt. Vernon Square’s Chipotle will be opening Tues. Oct. 25th at 1045 5th Street, NW in the City Vista building.
I first shared scuttlebutt that a Chipotle would be coming to this space back in June ’10.

There is a huge police presence on K street between 4th and 5th NW. Street is blocked off, 15 police cars, emergency response vehicles, and about 15 armed officers went into the apartment building on the north side of K. Activity has been going on for about and hour and a half now. Any idea what is happening?”
Does anyone know if this is a barricade situation? I’ll update when MPD sends word.

I’ve always been curious about this building. This loft is going for $3588.

“So the meeting about a playground shooting will be “VERY brief” in order to allow everyone to rush over to the all-nude strip club? This is a sad and pathetic statement about this organization’s priorities.”

And finally, there is no indication that construction will be starting anytime soon at the former Starbucks/Cereal Bowl space in Cleveland Park:

“DD (douglas development) reports that they are cleaning it up a bit but development is unfortunately not happening yet. I’m glad they are at least giving that one some attention – it needs it.”

I know there aren’t a lot of photos but we’ve judged the outside of this building so I thought folks would be curious.

1414 9th St, NW, former Vegetate space
“Dear PoP,
Today my girlfriend and I checked out a Mexican restaurant called Cafe Eagle at 1414 9th St. NW. I found you posted about that address a year ago, but it looks like it has shifted from an Eritrean/Ethiopian restaurant to a Mexican one. It looks like they’re still putting things together (the only menu is a sign board that’s leaning against a wall), but they are selling food. Our tacos and tamales cost 2 dollars each and were great. The waiter told us the restaurant opened on Friday. Just thought I’d give you a head’s up and encourage others to go there for some great Mexican.”
