I finally saw the Yale Lofts located at 4th and New York Ave, NW. It is a huge building.

Anyone check out the units inside? what do you think of the building itself?

And here’s an update on the new building going up at Rhode Island Ave between 5th and New Jersey, NW.

And after the jump is one of my favorite buildings that we’ve seen before from Ledroit Park. (more…)

Walking down the 600 block of L Street, NW I noticed some interesting paintings and then I saw an artist (Erin photographed above). It turns out I was behind 607 New York Ave, NW which is the home of the Captial Fringe Festival.

It turns out the entrance to many of the plays are through the L Street entrance. Erin was painting the names of the venues. Ah, it makes so much sense now. I was super confused for a while. Sadly, I’ve never been to a Fringe Festival before. Has anyone been to one? What’s the scoop?

You can get tickets here. You can find the list of shows here.

This home is located at 433 M Street, NW:

More info found here and a virtual tour here.

Wow, this house is huge. Normally I’m finding houses like this converted into condos. It’s cool to see one renovated without being chopped up. So what do you think of the home and renovations? It’s yours for $1,099,000.

This is the first carriage house I’ve seen that sorta has a little pop up to it. I like the angle of it and think it still looks good. You? It’s located in an alley behind New York Ave.

I am happy to report that I have confirmed that the hugely successful (and delicious) Taylor’s Deli is opening up a second location in Mt. Vernon Triangle at City Vista (5th and L, NW). Taylor’s of course is the Philly style sandwich shop that opened up in Nov. at 1116 H St. NE. Well mad props to the folks at City Vista because now they can add to their hugely successful list of retail spots which already includes the “Sexy Safeway”, 5th Street Hardware, Busboys & Poets, and who knows what else is in the works.

The new Taylor’s hopes to open around October. Great score for Mt. Vernon Triangle.

This cool shot is from, the thankfully prolific, lmno.p who adds some colorful commentary to the title, “4th Street, NW”:

“The transvestites used to take their johns here and conduct business in the basement. I hope they aren’t getting ready to tear it down, it still stands proud after all its neighbors have left.”

It appears to be from the 1200 block of 4th Street, NW.

I love this mini Sun Trust Bank building off North Captiol near Union Station:

And below is one of my favorite blocks of row houses in the city. From the 500 block of L Street, NW rounding out my Mt. Vernon Triangle tour:

Next to today’s “judging buildings” at 455 Mass Ave., NW is a big sign for Buddha Bar. The Triangle blog has a bit more info. Looks like it could be pretty cool. Anyone else familiar with this spot? Apparently they have a spot in NYC, anyone ever been?

And while it has looked ready to open for a while, I’m beginning to suspect the dry cleaner to open at Florida and 13th Street, NW, may never open…

I thought I had put up a different sign from this same spot a while back but I can’t seem to find it. So it turns out this spot has a Web site:

“Louis’ Rogue has one of the largest main stages in Washington, DC. The finest Washington has to offer, we have two main stages and personal stage dances, along with pool tables, video games and 42″ plasma TVs with Direct TV satellite. Located just four blocks from the DC Convention Center, Gallery Place Metro and MCI Arena, we offer alcohol, beer, snacks, food, drinks and dancing.”

It’s located at 476 K Street NW.
