Lamont Park (Lamont and Mt. Pleasant St, NW)

Join your Mount Pleasant neighbors for an evening of food and fun! Porc, Fojol, Pleasant Pops and DC Empanadas will be in Mount Pleasant for our first ever Food Truck Thursday. Help make it a success for the neighborhood and the food trucks so that we can make this a regular event.

There has also been talk of having board game night out in the Park to make it a fun evening, and get to know some of your neighbors!

Come for some food and outdoor fun, stay in the neighborhood and have a drink with some friends at some of the neighborhood establishments afterwards.

It’s been a rough couple of weeks trying to navigate 18th and Harvard St, NW. Thanks to a reader for sending the photo. They write:

“First the great tractor trailer crash last week, now this! My intersection sure is busy this week.”

Another reader writes:

“Also, looks to be a couple (of sorts, a guy and girl). The girl has just been cuffed.”

Thanks to all the readers who wrote in and sent photos from last night’s crazy scene at 18th and Harvard St, NW. It happened around 9pm last evening. One reader writes:

“Apparently pedestrians attempted to prevent the truck driver from making this turn to no avail. not sure how clear it is but he has smashed the bricks encasing the lawn and stairs and knocked over the street sign and the stop sign. the many police on the scene seem unsure how to dislodge it.”

Another reader writes at 10pm:

“Came home tonight to find this truck took out a lamp post and stop sign and slammed into the side of building on the corner. Also side swiped three cars.
Looks like everyone is okay, but it’s still there….”

Update – A reader sends a shot of the scene this morning:

Dear PoPville,

Boveda Tribal Arts is NEVER open. (3165 Mt. Pleasant St. NW 2nd Floor).I live in the neighborhood and swing by a couple times a week (going on 10 months now) to see if anyone is around. I have tried calling, leaving messages, email….everything. No one in the hood seems to know what is going on.

I want to purchase a ring that I spotted in the store over a year ago. I must have it and I am kicking myself for not buying it at the time!
Any ideas?

I stopped by earlier in the week but was the store was locked. I asked next door and they thought the owner may have been visiting family in Chicago but was not 100% sure. Anyone else know why Boveda seems to be closed in Mt. Pleasant?
