Ghana cafe is located at 1336 14th St, NW by Rhode Island Ave (and formerly of Adams Morgan). The last few times I’ve walked by the place has been pretty crowded so I thought it was time for a proper judging. For those who are fans of the food – do you recommend any specific dishes?
You can see their menu here.
Also – do folks like this as a place to just grab a beer?

Last week we revisited a house that sold on Grant Circle in Petworth. This week, we move south to stunning and awesome Logan Circle. You might notice that the price points diverge a bit from Grant Circle, as lovely as it is.
Designed to blend in with the surrounding historic architecture, Logan Mansions is the quintessential boutique condo and was built in just 2000 by P.N. Hoffman. It’s interesting to consider that this property came into existence just at the dawn of the Whole Foods Era. Wikipedia notes that the Whole Foods on P St NW was built in 2000 on the site of a former abandoned service garage.

It was great to see the long boarded up eyesore at the corner of Q and Vermont Ave, NW get fixed up. Looking good!
And the project at T and Vermont Ave, NW 1900 Vermont Ave, NW is starting to rise:

This is from just east of 14th St, NW on R. I think it’s from the Capital City Real Estate group. It’s nearby one of my favorite houses in the city.
Thumbs up or down?

I can’t believe we haven’t judged Cork yet. Cork is located at 1720 14th Street, NW just south of the U Street Corridor between the Streets R and S. You can see their menu here.
Back when they first opened in early 2008 the place was regularly mobbed. So what’s the word in mid-2011?

Logan Circle is in the distance.

This home is located at 1604 15th St, NW:

This 5 bed/3.5 bath is yours for $1,199,000.

Back in Aug. ’10 we learned that Peregrine Espresso would be expanding into Logan Circle (they have an extremely popular Capitol Hill location by Eastern Market at 660 Pennsylvania Ave SE.)
I was able to get some sneak peek photos last night before an opening party. The exact opening hasn’t been selected as a few permits/approvals still need to be in order. They will likely be open over the weekend or early next week.

There isn’t much room for seating inside but there will be a bunch of stools and and the front window area which can likely fit 15 or 20. Also in the warm weather there will eventually be a bit of outdoor seating out front like at Cork.
1718 14th St, NW is right next to Cork Wine Bar. Cork used to be the home of Sparky’s coffee shop which closed back in 2007. We’re sorta coming full circle…
The space itself looks great. There are lots of nice details that you can see in the photos after the jump. (more…)
