“Dear PoPville,

This happened on the south side of the street just before the sidewalk juts out for the streetcar stop that was hit by a commercial bus and still has not reopened. The boy who was riding with his brother on H Street, NE last night lost his life. The scene of the two bicycles on the street, the injured boy being administered CPR and his brother giving a statement to police was so sad.

The combination of the streetcar, Metro and commercial buses, cars and trucks and overall traffic speed combined with bicyclists proved to be deadly for this young person. May he rest in peace.

The intersection is very dangerous for pedestrians, bicyclists, scooters, and everyone passing through. DDOT needs to look at this part of H to make it safer.

Linden Pl NE is a one block long enclave located one block south of H Street NE, at the east end by the diagonal intersection of Maryland and Florida Ave NE. The homes on this block tend to be 2 to 3 bedroom small to medium scale Victorians, many without basements.

Not surprisingly, the development along the H Street corridor has impacted the market value of homes in the area.

Five years ago, during the first half of 2013, the median price for a fee simple house within a fifth of a mile of the subject property was solidly below $600,000. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

I encountered a peeping tom masturbating outside the window of my ground floor unit last night.

I live on the hill near union station and H street and saw a peeping tom masturbating outside of my ground floor bedroom window last night at 11:45. He saw me notice him and made eye contact and some obscene gestures before running away when I picked up the phone to call the police. (more…)
