Stabbing at Fruit Bat Bar at 1236 H St, NE on Friday Night

Around midnight last night a victim was stabbed inside the bathroom at Fruit Bat located at 1236 H St, NE. The victim was quickly taken to the hospital and remains in stable condition. The suspect fled and no arrest was made. ~~As usually happens after incidents like this, there will likely be an emergency closure of Fruit Bat.~~ Fruit Bat will remain open during the investigation.

I don’t know anything about the victim, the assailant, or the circumstances of what/why it happened. I hope to update when more info becomes available.

Toyland Closes on H St, NE – ‘The Big Board’ Coming Soon Featuring Gourmet Burgers

Thanks to all who sent in word about Toyland’s closing at 421 H St NE. Walking by this weekend – there are already signs up on the windows for the replacement – ‘The Big Board’ featuring Gourmet Burgers coming soon.

Were there any fans of Toyland? I’ll be sure to revisit when they open to see about these burgers.

Tru Orleans Starting to Look Good on H St, NE

You can really see the vision of Tru Orleans coming together at 400 H St, NE (for those with long memories, in the former Studio 400 Live Music Hall). We first heard about the space in Jan. and while they had hoped to be open by now it looks like they are now aiming for a June opening (though those do look like stop work orders in the window so stay tuned for an exact opening date.)
