Congrats to one of the best bars in the city!

I thought these two from Gallaudet off Florida Ave, NE were pretty sweet.

Florida Ave, NW has been getting a lot of action lately – now Florida Ave NE is getting in on some action with Chinito’s Burritos opening up at 635 across from Galludet University.

Their Facebook page says:
Gastronomes Take Heed. Founded by Jin Chong, Chinitos Burritos is committed to serving the community authentic Mexican food at an affordable price. Located in the meat-packing district of NE, Washington, DC, my mission is to provide gourmet food that is prepared quickly. The name Chinitos is an adaptation of the Spanish word Chinos to describe Asians. Cheers to good food and longevity.
With a passion for food and a love for people, Chinitos Burritos aims to establish trust in the community for preparing authentic Mexican food done well. Gourmet food does not have to come with a gourmet price tag.
My hope is to inspire and enhance the quality of life through great food and experience, combined by entertainment and great atmosphere. Command the art of hospitality employing the juxtaposition of nourishment, rapport, and diversion to create harmony and foster the ceremony of life and living.
And here’s how it works:

“On February 12th at 7pm, Sticky Rice DC (1224 H Street NE) will kick off its annual “Iron Chef Sushi Masters” competition in its DC location. Chefs from all 3 Sticky Rice locations will compete against each other in DC and Baltimore. The winners from these rounds will face off in the finals in Richmond for the title.”

A lot of progress since we last checked in at 9th and I St, NE. While it’s not my favorite, it’s not the worst one I’ve ever seen. What are your final thoughts?

Back in Dec. ’11 we took an early look at Boundary Road coming to 414 H St, NE. I stopped back earlier this week to see how they were progressing:

Awesome! While we already got a sneak peek of their food menu I’m psyched to now be able to give a sneak peek of their beverage menu:

Like the dining menu, the beverage menu will also be changing with the seasons. How does this one sound?
If all goes well they should be opening very soon. I’ll update with an exact date when it’s announced. In the meantime, after the jump, you can see a few more photos of how the space is looking. (more…)

Too early for a thumbs up/thumbs down vote for this one from the 1200 block of H St, NE?

This week in coming to H Street, NE – DC Conscious Cafe. A recent liquor license posted at the Buka Restaurant space at 1413 H St, NE says:
“New Restaurant. World Fusion menu. Social gatherings, book reading and speakers from the community. Entertainment will be provided. Occupancy load is 40.”
Cool. I’m eager to learn more about the book readings and speakers from the community. Sounds like it may have a Busboys and Poets vibe.
Ed. Note: World/global fusion seems to be where it’s at for the moment.
