Sophomore – Riot in DC April 1968 by deafrr

“Dear PoPville,

Whoa! A good video shot by a Gallaudet university student during the 1968 riots. The video shows fire and smoke on H Street seen from Gallaudet university. During the riots the US army came onto Gallaudet’s campus to protect students.”

This one is located at 618 L Street, NE – you can have a look inside one of the units here (3 bed/3.5 bath unit going for $699,900.) What do you think of the pop up (possible completely new construction?) itself?

Thanks to a reader for sending the photo above:

“Construction activity at TruOrleans this morning.”

Last month we heard the space would become a new restaurant with:

“American fare with Mediterranean influence, craft cocktails and local craft beer”

Updates as more info becomes available.

Tony’s Breakfast

“Dear PoPville,

I was just looking into going to Tony’s on H st and to my surprise they have a website. On the site it reads

“Tony’s Breakfast Has Moved Months Ago from 1401 H Street to 1387 H Street!
Vist the One & Only Authentic Tony’s • Not Affiliated with Tony’s Place @ 1401 H Street”.

I thought they moved across the street temporarily? I know they recently moved during some sort of remodel and that both were open. But separate entities? Huh?”

Their twitter page says opening in 2015.

The liquor license placard recently posted out front says:

There will be two kitchens. One on the first floor, and one on the second floor to execute the lounge menu. Menus will be offered up to an hour before closing. Lounge operations are on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th floors. Third floor will include collapsible doors that open to a summer garden with the back of the garden enclosed by a two story wall.
