1337 Connecticut Ave., NW

EaterDC shares the word from Heritage India:

Heritage India Dupont Circle is closing to relocate.

As of May 31, 2012, it will cease operations and close at 1337 Connecticut Av NW. Our lease is ending and we are opting to relocate.

It has been an honor and a privilege to serve thousands of Washingtonians and domestic and foreign visitors since 2005. We will resume operations in another location where we can fulfill our commitment to providing world-class cuisine in an elegant and sophisticated setting.

Our new location will be announced this summer.

Heritage India Georgetown is open for lunch and dinner daily to serve you at 2400 Wisconsin Av NW. We sincerely thank you for your continued patronage and support. Please visit www.heritageindiausa.com for updates.

Heritage India’s Dupont location was the scene of a shooting on Nov. 27th 2011. An arrest was made in that case back in Feb. 2012.

1250 Connecticut Ave, NW

@tomsietsema tweeted the news yesterday:

“Bummer news: @CasaNonna closes tonight. Owner thanks chef but says, “we did not have response we had hoped for” in DC.”

Casa Nonna opened in Sept. 2010 in the former California Pizza Kitchen at 1250 Connecticut Ave, NW. Will anyone miss Casa Nonna?

It’s a pretty prime space so it’ll be interesting to see who takes over the space.

This rental is located at 1330 New Hampshire Avenue, NW:

1600 21st Street, NW

On Friday afternoon, I mentioned that Tryst Coffeehouse was opening up a 2nd location at the Phillips Collection in Dupont Circle. They’re open for business today!

For folks that were wondering, you don’t have to pay museum admission to get into the cafe. And there is free wifi. They’ll operate with the same hours [Tuesday-Saturday 10 am-5 pm; Thursday 10 am-8:30 pm; Sunday 11 am-6 pm] as The Phillips Collection. In addition to sandwiches and pastries they’ll also have a bar.

And while the inside looks pretty sweet:

The huge outside courtyard is going to be the best part (unfortunately it was raining yesterday but you can see the potential):

1333 19th St, NW

Back in Oct. 2011 the Ben and Jerry’s closed in Dupont Circle by the south metro exit at 1333 19th St, NW. I finally found out who is moving into the space – Jamba Juice.

In March 2012 we learned that Jamba Juice was coming to Union Station (I think they’re supposed open at the end of May or shortly thereafter.) I hear that the Dupont Jamba Juice will open in the beg. of July. You can see their menus here.

1317 Connecticut Ave, NW

A reader asks:

“Any word on DGS Deli? Just had Mile End in NYC and it was delish.. gonna need a more local smoked meat fix!”

Back in Feb. 2012 DGS Delicatessen had applied for a liquor license at 1317 Connecticut Ave, NW in Dupont Circle:

“Traditional Jewish delicatessen serving house-cured meats, fish, bread, bagels, and bialys with a seating capacity of 90 and total occupancy load of 127. Applicant requests a summer garden with 12 seats.”

I checked in with one of the owners and he writes:

“We are still on schedule for summer opening.”

Though much construction still needs to be completed. I will update with more specific dates as construction progresses.
