Yogen Fruz currently has a location at 825 14th St, NW and will also be opening up a spot at Union Station. You can see their flavors here. I wonder if they’ll be competing with the frozen yogurt offered by next door neighbor, and also coming soon, Cafe Grande.

Kellari is located at 1700 K St, NW. After Italian, Greek is one of my favorite types of food so I’m eager if anyone has checked out this spot yet? Any must order items? You can see their menus here.

Where are your other favorite Greek spots in town?

DC’s Commission on the Arts tells us:

“As part of Mayor Adrian M. Fenty’s ongoing efforts to advance arts in the District of Columbia, the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities (DCCAH) selected Steed Taylor to paint a road tattoo entitled “Daughters and Sons Knot”. Mr. Taylor’s design highlights Washington DC’s relationship with war and loss by honoring metropolitan area soldiers recently killed while serving their country. The names of those soldiers’ children will be incorporated in the design. The design is a complex Celtic Knot with 6 loops, a symbolic number for harmony and alluding to the interdependence within a community as well as a family. The road tattoo is approximately 60 feet wide and 300 feet long and made with the help of local volunteers and neighbors.”

If anyone works at the Dept of Veterans Affairs, send a photo from an upper floor!

The flier says:

“This 1 BR, 1 BA condo, in the heart of downtown, features an open floor plan with a gorgeous kitchen with granite countertops and ss apps, floor to ceiling windows, gleaming hw floors, CAC, an in-unit w/ d, & a rooftop terrace w/ pool.”

You can find more info here and photos here.

I was gonna show a regular rowhouse today, but I couldn’t resist the rooftop pool. What do you think of the condo itself? Does $399,000 ($431.20 condo fee) sound reasonable for this 1 bed/1bath?

There is a 1 bed/1bath unit with den and a parking spot on a higher floor going for $530,000.

Morrison Clark is located at 1015 L St, NW. I knew it was an historic inn but didn’t realize it was a proper restaurant as well. Their Web site says:

“Our chef delivers tantalizing, American cuisine — in an elegant atmosphere featuring ten-foot gilded mirrors, Italian Carrera marble fireplaces, and a tranquil veranda and courtyard. Select from a wine list recognized with The Wine Spectator’s “Award of Excellence” for five years running. And on Sundays, escape to our hotel’s lovely outdoor courtyard for brunch — the perfect start to a breezy day of rest and relaxation.”

You can see their menus here. Anyone ever check them out for dinner or brunch?

Back in Feb. we learned that West Elm was closing and Forever 21 would open up in that space at 1020 G St, NW. That day has arrived. When I walked by on Sunday it seemed fairly calm though a bunch of yellow Forever 21 bags were visible on nearby streets:

Of course, the building itself still looks great:

Cure bar & bistro is located at the corner of 10th and H Streets, NW in the Grand Hyatt Hotel building. I feel like I’m noticing lots of bistros lately. So for Cure, is this the type of place you go more for food or drinks? Any must order items?

A reader noted in the comments of a previous post about this development. The Washington Post’s Jonathan O’Connell reports:

“Clyde’s Restaurant Group plans to open a two-story, 35,000-square-foot restaurant in space currently occupied by a Borders bookstore in downtown D.C. next year, creating one of the city’s biggest dining options and the 14th site in the Clyde’s chain.

The space, in the ground floor and basement levels of the former Garfinkel’s department store building on 14th Street NW, is across the street from the Willard Hotel and two blocks from the White House.”

PJ Clarke’s Sidecar has just applied for a liquor license in the old Solives spot at 1600 K St, NW. The application says:

“Full service restaurant open for lunch and dinner. Sidecar, 86 seats & P. J. Clarke’s,
116 seats for total indoor capacity of 202. Sidewalk Café with 48 seats.”

I’m a little confused by the description. Is the Sidecar the bar?

Though I say the more sidewalk cafes the better.
