Ollie’s Trolley is located at 425 12th St, NW (12th and E St, NW.) You can see their menu here and their website says:

The Ollieburger. 5oz & 8oz of 100% Fresh All Natural Black Angus Beef grilled with their special herbs and spices — which we cook to order (Rare to Well-done). You can taste the spices enjoyably, but can’t readily identify them — served with fresh/crisp lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle, and secret sauce on a sesame bun. The ingredients are all fresh.

Our famous Ollie’s seasoned fries are tossed in actual herbs and spices. They are known as the best fries in town, and worthy of their “famous” title.

Crab cakes and fish sandwiches are never FROZEN and prepared fresh daily. Crab cakes are made out of ALL JUMBO LUMP Crabmeat with no fillings.

Steak-N-Cheese is one of the most popular sandwiches. Many customers believe our Steak-n-cheese is better than the one in Philly.

Any fans?

Back in Sept. ’11 I noticed some coming soon signs at Fuel’s Chinatown location at 6th and F St, NW. Looks like there is even more progress at their other location in the former Burger King at 1606 K St, NW. They’ve also applied for a liquor license at that location:

“A fast casual restaurant serving pizza, wings, salads and similar fare with a seating capacity for 130 people and total occupancy of 180.”

You can see their menu here. And now we have an idea of the decorating style…

Thanks to a reader for sending the tip. I called Mixt Greens Wed. afternoon and they confirmed that Wed. was the “last day of operations” for both remaining DC locations (the F St, NW location closed in Feb. ’11 and is now a Roti.) The two remaining locations were in Dupont at 1200 19th Street NW and by Farragut North at 1700 K Street, NW. Those are two prime locations so we’ll def. keep an eye on them to see who moves in.

Will anyone miss Mixt Greens?

Whoa, have you walked by the old Borders bookstore at 14th and F St, NW lately? The huge windows are not covered and reveal the much anticipated Hamilton (to be open 24/7 with an 800 person capacity) from the Clyde’s group:

Founding father, mover, shaker, lover & dueling politico, Alexander Hamilton’s vision for America helped it to become the world’s venue for opportunity and success.

Washington DC’s newest destination for music and entertainment is dedicated to celebrating the talent and passion of America’s best artists. DC is a city where polish and sophistication have been charmed by a bohemian spirit creating a new thriving artistic underground.

The Hamilton will offer local, national and international musicians the unique opportunity to entertain a city that is never short on opinions, all within earshot of The White House.

Check out the renderings of the music space here.

And here’s a glimpse from street level:

I’ve been wondering for a long time what would become of this prime vacant retail space at the corner of 15th and K St, NW across from McPherson Square. I finally ran into some folks working on the space and it’s gonna be a Pret a Manger. They’re also on a bit of a tear – they have one location at 11th and F St, NW; 1825 Eye Street, NW; 1828 L St, NW; and are also coming to Union Station soon. And now they have 15th and K St, NW listed as ‘Coming Soon’ officially on their Web site.

Back in early Nov. ’11 we noted that Schakolad had closed their retail space at 1107 19th St, NW (just north of L street.) A permit on the window confirms some scuttlebutt that a Crumbs Bake Shop will be moving into the space.

Crumbs is on a tear. While they haven’t reached Fro-yen-yo proportions, in late Oct. ’11 they opened up at 888 17th St. NW and they already have stores at 604 11th Street NW and in Union Station.

Stay tuned for their next location.

Dear PoPville,

One of the BID guys told me that at about 7:30 this morning an SUV hit a fire truck. I didn’t get a picture, but there were pieces of SUV stuck to the front of the fire truck. You can see the rest of the SUV on the right side of the photo. I hope everyone was ok, but they did have to cut people out of the car. I don’t know what happened here, but I found it interesting that just a few minutes before I (incredulously) watched a guy cross I Street right in front of an ambulance with sirens on.

Boloco is coming to 1028 19th St, NW between K and L Streets. Looks like they have a ton of locations in the Boston/New England area. Their Web site says:

“Food is what we do. It is what we stand behind. It is what defines us. We strive to provide our customers with the unexpected. To surprise the palate with every bite. Every ingredient has a purpose, a meaning and, when combined, results in bold and addictive flavors that can only be described as “inspired”. It’s about choice… a true variety of options that matter so that at the end of the day, we satisfy stomachs of all colors, shapes, and sizes. It is what makes us different. Not every option is for every body. We know that. Keep exploring. Your vice is on our menu, unless you don’t like food. But you do. This is good food to the core. Enjoy.”
