“1925 Wardman rowhouse with completely updated systems, original heart of pine hardwood floors. granite counters and slate floors in kitchen and breakfast nook, slate floors continue in basement mudroom and utility room.

What the Owner Loves: 1 1/2 blocks from Metro stop, one block from Safeway supermarket. Clean, safe neighborhood.”

More info and interestingly only photos of the outside found here.

UPDATE:  Interior photos can be seen here.

This is an interesting house it has 3 bedrooms and 3.5 baths but it’s curious that there are not internal photos. But assuming it is updated like it says do you think $595,000 sounds reasonable?

“Near the northwest corner of 13th and Irving NW, there’s an air pump coming out of a rowhouse with a sign reading “Free Air for Bicycles”. Thought it was a cool neighborhood find if you haven’t already covered it.

The house is on 13th, next to the church that is located there for sale.”

Very cool. For those that missed it previously, here’s the church for sale.

“Hello PoP,

Have you ever done a post on that weird blue house?

It’s the only one in the area I’ve seen with a barbed wire prison motif.”

It’s funny I have noticed this house at the corner of Monroe and Holmead. I’ve never seen barbed wire around a residential house before. Sometimes I believe it’s better if I don’t think too deeply on these matters…

I love finding these incredible Columbia Heights Rowhomes for sale. This one seems to have it all, a sick renovation as well as original details. This house is gigantic but as with all house porn editions, I’m interested to hear what you think about the house itself. Do yourself a favor and make sure you check out the virtual tour. For the curious the asking price is $1,589,000.

This is from 11th Street. You may recognize the pop up on the right which I’ve featured before. If memory serves I think it got fairly good reviews from you guys. So it appears the neighbor is looking to keep up. Do you think this’ll be a new trend of houses next to pop ups getting pop ups of their own?

The great Bloombars, located on 11th Street next to Wonderland, is having a “bloom” tonight at 7:30.

From the evite:

Continuing in the BloomBars’ tradition to nurture the growth of artists who use their gift to inspire service, build community, and establish meaningful human connections, we are proud to introduce Seed the Sound Sunday w/ Sitali.

Seed the Sound Sunday will showcase musicians from a diversity of genres. Our featured cause from this Sunday evening: KUSH (Visit Their website: kushworld.org.) Also, we?re proud to announce that National Sound has come on board as a sponsor, and they are determined to make this one of the premier acoustic performance spaces in the area.

Seed the Sound Sundays is the first project for Artist-In-Bloom resident Sitali Siyolwe. The singer, songwriter, and guitarist spent his childhood crisscrossing the globe with stops in Egypt, Russia and England. At the age of 13, Sitali had his first recording session with veteran producer Glynn Johns (of Led Zeppelin and Rolling Stones fame). After stints in New York and Seattle, Sitali settled in Washington DC, where he formed the band christened with his name in 2005. Their forthcoming release “Aluta Continua” will arrive in Spring 2009.

Show will start promptly at 7:30. Please arrive early out of respect for the artists.

Just received an email from Ward 1 Councilmember Jim Graham:

“Dear Friends, I have just returned from 14th and Columbia, where a short time ago shots were fired on the 1300 block of Columbia. An innocent bystander was sitting in her car, which was about to be parked, when a bullet penetrated the chassis and struck her in the leg.

The 1300 block of Columbia has been heavily patrolled with a squad car and a light tower present since Paul Jones was shot in January. (His alleged, barely 18 year old murderer was with this and another murder and is now in jail.)

Indeed, just last night, I attended a community meeting with MPD on the violence at 1300 block of Columbia.

However, another tragedy tonight–a fatal stabbing at Gresham and Georgia–led to the officer on the 1300 block being pulled to the location of that homicide. (There are very good leads, I am told in thta case.)

In the brief time that followed–when the police were not there, and the light tower was still dark–shots were fired and the person was wounded.

This has all the earmarks of more gang violence.

More information will be revealed as it becomes available.”

Good grief, it almost makes you want to weep out of frustration.  I do wonder why they couldn’t have left the light tower on?  It seems absolutely crazy.  Do you think the shooters were just waiting for the moment the cops were gonna leave?

Our discussion on Columbia Heights development got me thinking about Panda Express. The last few weekends when I’ve walked through Columbia Heights near the metro (14th and Irving), Five Guys, Pete’s and Potbelly’s have all been packed. But Panda Express always only has a handful of customers. As far as fast food is concerned, it’s pretty decent. I mean it’s no Szechuan House for sure. But as far as fast food is concerned are there any Panda Express fans out there? Or if you’re getting fast food are you always going to hit potbelly’s, Five Guys, or grab a slice of pizza at Pete’s?
