Stay tuned for an opening date which according to the Cleveland Park listserv could be as early as around two weeks.

From Nanny’s:

“First things first: Nanny O’Briens is not closing its doors!

With our 25th anniversary just over the horizon in April 2018, we plan to continue operating on the Connecticut Avenue strip we’ve called home since 1993 with the same great burgers and pub food, large craft beer selection (and, of course, pints of Guinness), fun kids menu, and friendly service you expect from your neighborhood tavern.

However, things have been tough here. Over the past few years–and, in particular the past few months–as the face of Cleveland Park has changed and competition throughout DC has grown, foot traffic has gone down while the cost of rent, goods and labor have increased. This beloved neighborhood institution–owned by three Cleveland Park natives–is struggling to break even on some months.

We are now looking to you, our neighbors and friends, for support.

Starting at 12 noon this Thursday, August 31st, we will be offering a Thursday Neighborhood Discount of 20% off the bill for all our patrons who live in the 20008 and 20016 zip codes.
Now in the spirit of a rising tide lifting all boats, we reached out to our neighbors who will be running their own Thursday specials, including: (more…)

“I just wanted to let folks know that Mr. Chen’s Organic Chinese Food will be coming to the Nam-Viet space. They do not yet have an opening date, but I’m looking forward to welcoming a new business to our community!”

Ed. Note: I asked the ANC Rep, Beau Finley, if they were closing their Woodley Park location and he said that was unclear at this time. Will update as more is known.

You can see their Woodley Park menu here.

The tap list will include: West Coast DIPA (Boneyard collaboration), Dry-Hopped Barley wine (Avery collaboration), Ginger Lager (Surly collaboration), Thai-Style Ice Tea Ale (Mikkeller collaboration), Tropical Torpedo IPA, Otra Vez Gose and the legendary Pale Ale. Representatives from both Sierra and HRA will be on hand to answer any questions, hand out swag and talk adoption days. Come beat the heat and contribute to a great cause with us and our friends!”

UPDATE from the Cleveland Park listserv:

“I’m delighted to share that AMC’s Director of Corporate Communications, Ryan Noonan, has announced the following:

In response to community feedback, AMC will maintain the Uptown signage, with an upgrade to LED lighting for better energy efficiency and to ensure the sign remains in good working order. We continue to evaluate additional exterior signage plans, including the addition of the AMC brand on the theatre. We appreciate the passion and feedback from the community, and look forward to serving moviegoers at AMC Uptown 1 for years to come.

I will share any additional information as it becomes available.

Thank you,
Emma Hersh

Diane reports:

“Corner of Connecticut and Sedgwick. 3 cars pulled over and, as you can see, one crunched into the column at Sedgwich Garden apartments. Don’t think anyone was hurt.”

From a press release:

“Mayor Bowser cut the ribbon on the new Klingle Valley Trail and celebrated by leading the trail’s inaugural community walk/ride. The event showcased the new trail that stretches from Woodley Park through Cleveland Park and Mount Pleasant and connects to Rock Creek Park. The Mayor was joined by Ward 3 Councilmember Mary Cheh, District Department of Transportation (DDOT) Director Leif Dormsjo, the Klingle Valley Trail project team, Washington Area Bicyclist Association representatives, and community members.

“Back in 2015, we started this project with two goals in mind: turn a washed-out roadway into a beautiful, new trail, and protect Klingle Valley from traffic and pollution,” said Mayor Bowser. “Today, the Klingle Valley Trail, our first road-to-trail project, offers a safe route for bikers and walkers to connect through our Northwest neighborhoods and into Rock Creek Park, and its updated, sustainable infrastructure means we will be able to enjoy this new trail for years to come.” (more…)
