On the petite side and with a functional-not-fancy kitchen, this home was on the market for fifty five days, which seems like a long time on this part of The Hill. The Craigslist ad says:

“Capital East Apartments is a vintage 1920s apartment community located blocks from the U.S. Capitol building and Union Station. The property is located 4 blocks from Lincoln Park.

The units are spacious, have hardwood floors and original details. The building is pet-friendly. There is on-site management and controlled access to the building.”

I’m thinking this is a good deal – $1250 for a 1 bedroom sound right?

The flier says:

“GREAT INTERIOR ROW HOUSE BLOCKS FROM EASTERN MARKET METRO * FP IN LIVING ROOM * FP IN SEP DINING ROOM * FENCED IN REAR YARD * WOOD DECK WITH PATIO * E-Z ACCESS TO 395 * PRICED TO SELL * ESTATE SELL IN “AS-IS” CONDITION *”

You can find more info here and photos here.

Dang, I waited to long to post this one. But the question I had still remains – what would you do if you bought a house with a transom like this – keep it or replace it?

I actually do think someone got a pretty good deal – this 3 bed/1.5 was on the market for $495,000. If it went for that amount do you think it was a good deal?

When we spoke about Perfect Pita coming to NoMa some folks were psyched to learn Pound Coffee would be opening a second location at 621 Pennsylvania Ave, SE. Here’s what it looked like last weekend. The sign is new to me. I’m hearing that if all goes according to plan they’ll be opening March 7th. We first learned of the 2nd location back in Oct. ’10. I’ll be sure to update when they open.

Incidentally, does anyone happen to know the plans for next door at 623 Penn. Ave, SE in the old Capitol Hill Art and Frame storefront? I’m always intrigued when the windows get papered over…

Bullfeathers has reopened at 410 1st St SE. But they’re not taking your old coupons:

According to We Love DC:

“Bullfeathers “closed” in July of last year in order to undergo a complete renovation. The Capitol Hill mainstay is now owned and operated by the team behind the popular Tunnicliff’s Tavern, Ulah Bistro & Stoney’s.”

Bullfeathers’ Web site says:

Located in Capitol Hill is a bar and grill guaranteed to offer you a good time. Bullfeathers is rooted back to our nation’s 26th president Teddy Roosevelt, who didn’t find it appropriate to use profane language in public so he coined the phrase “Bullfeathers!”

This neighborhood bar caters to the young crowd of people working on Capitol Hill. Interns as well as other employees flock to Bullfeathers to grab a drink in this spot. Bullfeathers offers DC politicians a lengthy bar and gathering space to throw a few back. Like our mentor, T.R, we find that good food and drink with friends makes the everyday “Bullfeathers” more tolerable. It is our stated goal to take some of the edge off, take some of the “Bullfeathers” out of life and put a little more fun back in!

Still some mixed reviews on Yelp. Anyone check them out yet? If so, would you say it’s better, worse or the same?

If you’re looking to rent a place out and are curious what PoPville thinks is a realistic price send an email with ‘what’s a fair price’ in the title to princeofpetworth(at)gmail(dot)com. We can also do this for people selling their homes if interested.

History has shown that I’m horrible at guessing prices but I’m thinking $2400? What do you guys think?

“Dear PoP,

My name is Allison Manuel and I (with my husband Coite and friend Greg) started hosting DC house shows (826 7th St. NE) about a year ago. These shows are generally acoustic, alt-country, or indy in nature…or maybe just thoughtful? :)

check out our fan page here.

We usually have about 50 people attend our shows and it’s simply for the sake of creating good music in a home. I generally attract artists already on tour and are up for a different sort of venue. We have recently hosted: Chris Staples, Jill Andrews of the everybodyfields, Damien Jurado, Denison Witmer and others. Each time, we draw in about 50 people and the artists charge 10 dollars for entry with the artist taking the full cut. We generally offer to cook the band dinner or take them out and just make sure hospitality as well as getting a good solid audience gathered happens.

We have an upcoming show for a folk/bluegrass band called “the honey drewdrops” next friday (feb. 4). We have our fingers crossed for some other artists this spring… It’d be great to let the dc world know about these shows.

RSVP here.”

Sounds fun.

The listing trail (there were ultimately three listings for this sale) can be seen: here. The virtual tour can be seen here.

Technically this is not a Good Deal or Not Revisited (GDoN-R) because PoPville did not get the chance to opine whether or not it was actually a Good Deal or Not. (Wow, five “nots” in that last sentence.) There were, however, two opportunities to weigh in on the pop up top, so it’s not like you’ve never seen this one before. In any case, in my quest to present settled sales info from a range of neighborhoods around The District, I thought it’d be worth looking at what I think was an interesting sale.

Continues after the jump. (more…)
