Back in May ’10 we heard that Crepes on the Corner would be opening up a spot at 257 15th St, SE:

At the time they hoped to open in early Fall but obviously that timeline has been delayed. However, I’m happy to report that they are still coming! Yesterday they received approval today from DCRA to begin construction and build out is expected to take 5-6 weeks. Expect a soft opening in late March/early April.

The lunch options at Union Station are going through the roof. In addition to the gigantic food court downstairs – upstairs a Chipotle and Chop’t have recently opened in addition to this Potbelly’s opening Tuesday.

Though, I still love the Greek place downstairs. Of course now they also have a taco bell…

Sonoma is located at 223 Pennsylvania Avenue, SE. According to their Web site:

Sonoma’s mission is to highlight the Mid-Atlantic’s best naturally-raised and local ingredients and pair the creations with the best American and Italian wines.

Sonoma and Blue Ridge are the ventures of longtime friends Eli Hengst and Jared Rager. The duo, who met as undergrads at Middlebury College, went into business together in 2002 and dedicated themselves to developing neighborhood restaurants.

You can see their menus here. Any fans? Any must order items?

The Craigslist ad says:

“Pleasant, economical basement apartment in 9-unit building. Excellent location on quiet residential street, just 2 blocks from Barracks Row and 5 blocks from Eastern Market Metro. Great value for the price. Large bathroom; separate bedroom; built-in shelves in living room. $1,145 + electric (+ optional monthly $20 laundry fee). Available in early February. NO DOGS or SMOKING, please.”

Does $1,145 + electric sound reasonable?

“Dear PoP,

Heard last night from a girl who works at Starfish that they are closing down their cafe on 8th but reopening an Italian place instead. Not sure if you’ve heard anything similar or have more info to provide. I, for one, will miss the only New Orleans style place in that area!”

I couldn’t get any confirmation so this’ll have to remain scuttlebutt for the time being but I promise to update as more info becomes available. Starfish Cafe is located at 539 8th St., SE. You can see their menus here and we judged them here back in Oct. ’09. Anyone else hear this rumor?

How much of a negative do you think it is to live by the Southeast Freeway? Or is that a positive? Think this 3 bed/2.5 bath will go for $845,000?

Since folks questioned St. Arnold’s Belgian Restaurant/Pub that recently opened up at 1827 Jefferson Place, NW, I thought it would be fun to judge one of the oldest Belgian restaurants in DC – Belga Cafe. Belga is located at 514 8th Street, SE on Barracks Row. Their Web site says:

“Belga Café is the original Belgian restaurant in Washington DC and a great place for authentic Belgian food and Belgian Beers. Combining an intriguing atmosphere with excellent, light & healthy interesting food.

Belga Café is a little bit of Brussels on the Hill, with an open kitchen and sidewalk café.”

You can see their menus here.

Is the oldest Belgian in DC also the best?
