Here’s a helluva liquor license application for metrobar: “A new class C Tavern inspired by spotlighting the District’s culture in the arts, featuring exhibits, music, movies and community fundraisers. Seating Capacity of 399, Total Occupancy Load of 499 and a Summer Garden with 350 Seats. The License will include an Entertainment Endorsement on both the inside and outside of the premises.”

“Located conveniently off the Rhode Island Ave NE Metro station and alongside the Metropolitan Branch Trail, metrobar is an 11,000 sq ft, mixed-use outdoor space, home to the District’s first refurbished 5000-series Metro train car turned bar. “Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide that occurred on Tuesday, January 26, 2021, in the 2600 block of 12th Place, Southeast.

At approximately 7:03 pm, members of the Seventh District responded to the listed location for the sounds of gunshots. Upon arrival, members located a juvenile male victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the victim to an area hospital for treatment. After all life-saving efforts failed, the victim was pronounced dead.

The decedent has been identified as 15 year-old Jamarid Robinson, of Southeast, DC.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the police at 202-727-9099. Additionally, anonymous information may be submitted to the department’s TEXT TIP LINE by sending a text message to 50411.”

“Dear PoPville,

We are looking at purchasing a house in Brentwood that is a corner lot – the long side is RIGHT alongside Rhode Island Avenue. There is the usual 3 ft high chain link fence next to the sidewalk, and the current owners put up a 7′ fence the requisite distance back from the sidewalk to block the noise. We’re not a fan of this look and we’d prefer to be able to use the entirety of the yard – that’s why we’d love to buy an end unit! We are not usually fence people; we love being able to chat with our neighbors from the front porch and we generally think tall fences take away a lot of neighborhood charm. (more…)

On March 8, 2020, members of the Fifth District were dispatched to the 1300 block of W Street NE for the report of a robbery. Once on scene members learned that the complainant was approaching her car when the two suspects, described as black males, 10-12 years of age, confronted her and demanded her property. (more…)

“Good news! MGM Roast Beef is set to re-open on Friday February 7th 2020.

In July 2019 an electrical fire in the kitchen caused the 10 year old Northeast DC institution to shut down.
